Lyanna Tainn
Rank Challenge, for @Kieron | Broken Clouds, 66.2 ° F, 19 ° C

Now that she'd settled in and spent much of her time and blood proving that she was a willing and capable addition, the desire to make more of herself, to begin to leave a mark of her own in Shallows Edge, had been smoldering in her mind. Violence wasn't really in her nature, but - it was every bit of her nature to rise up, and she had no intention of lingering at the bottom of the hierarchy for much longer.

It wasn't to her liking that where she would have to start in this venture was with a wolf she hadn't gotten to know. Yet, truth be told, the fact that she was not well acquainted with the girl didn't dissuade her from her intentions in the slightest. The bottom of the hierarchy was no place for her.

Having healed from her confrontation with the asshole from Vigils Keep to make an easy recovery, Lyanna was as ready as she'd ever be.

Stalking her way through the shadows cast by a mid-day sun, the tawny Tainn was quick to follow the scent left behind by her immediate superior - who also happened to be the Edge's other scout. For all she knew, Kieron could be a tough one to crack, but that hardly meant she wasn't going to give it her best shot. Pausing to test the air with a flick of her tongue, she lifted her muzzle and let the call of a challenge ring through the territory for all to hear.

Kieron O’Deorain
Having just returned to the reaches of Shallows Edge, Kieron was beat. The coyotes seemed to have been retreating, but even then seemed was not a term the woman wanted to dwell on. Truth be told, she had returned not only because she had been outside pack lands too long for her tastes, but she thought she had trailed a band of vermin on the way home. Here and there along territory lines, there were scents both old and new, but which ones were familiar were now lost on her sense of smell with the wilderness still fresh in her nose and on her pelt. It would take some time for her to smell like home again.

Dutiful as ever, the moment she found a fresh marker, she planted a paw beside it with her own signature scent before moving on to the next. Kieron would not rest until she spoke with her superiors. She had just walked past a particular tree, eager to make her way to the Shallows, when she heard a summoning call for her. Her ears perked up and her green eyes narrowed. There were things she needed to do, but apparently this... stranger needed her first.

Her own dark head tilted up to the cloudy afternoon skies, a short howl leaving her chords in reply. Now they all knew that the promising scout had returned, and that the woman who sought her presence was going to be found.

A flick of her tail, she half-dragged her paws as she went, leaving tell-tale prints wherever the forest floor was easily disturbed. Even if she was there a moment ago or days ago, anyone who crossed her path would know from the pheromones that lingered that Kieron had been there and that she was not going to leave for a while yet. Her right ear swiveled to one side and as she poked her head around a peeling evergreen trunk, she saw the woman who had called to her.

Kieron's hackles rose, her instincts still wild and her lupine voice still feral in her throat. A growl was offered as she cautiously lowered her head, remaining half-hidden behind her tree. What do you want?

After her call had been answered by the voice of the girl foreign to her, Lyanna waited in the silence that followed. She closed her eyes to the wisp of wind that rustled through the trees and across her face, listened to the sounds of the boughs swaying in the canopy overhead, felt the dirt - settled and still - beneath her feet. She soaked up the calm of it all and let it course through her body as the rhythm of her beating heart held steady. And when she opened them again, she took in the sight of the surrounding forest that she, quite fondly, called home.

Just because she was the newest addition to this neck of the woods didn't mean she had to be the smallest fish in the pond - and she wasn't going to be for long.

Eventually her immediate superior appeared through the shade, halting with half of her dark form safely hidden behind the trunk of an evergreen tree, a low growl perhaps her stab at an introduction. Lyanna's expression gave nothing away as she glanced casually over what she could see of the girl and the way her hackles stood on end. Sizing her up, perhaps. Her head rose slightly, ears pressing forward as her plume of a tail flicked in quiet contemplation. "It's a shame we have to meet like this, but-" her golden eyes shone with feverish intensity, "-my time at the bottom of the pecking order is up. I'm here for your rank, one way or another."

Shifting her weight to the center with toes planted, her challenge was clear. The sooner they got to it, the better.
