Sylva Your Gift is: You hear a scream in the dead of night -- is it a coyote, or something else?

The small black and brown wolf lept down from the fallen tree log with a soft grunt. She landed on the cold grunt with a soft grunt before she gave her thickening fur a good long shake. Hazel brown eyes shone in the stray beams of moonlight that managed to break through the thick canopy of the trees above. The weather was getting colder, which meant that the herbs would be dying out soon and the eccentric medic would be stuck with only her packmates to converse with. A soft snort escaped her muzzle at the idea. She knew that it wasn’t true, even when the plants did die there was always the trees. They were some of her oldest friends.

“It’s nice to be off the mountain.” She said out loud toward the thick trunks of the trees all around her. She loved her packmates, but at times it was nice to return to her roots as she had chosen to do tonight. She closed her eyes and inhaled the cold and crisp air. The silence was blissful, that was until it was pierced by a sudden scream from somewhere inside of the forest.

Sylva jumped up, her fur bristling outwards and her eyes widened. The healer inside of her was in conflict with her desire to live. She couldn’t and wouldn’t just abandon whoever it was that had made it. “Which way…” she said, the wind blew through the branches above and she gave a small nod and darted off in that random direction. Eventually, she came up to a small clearing where she paused and collected herself, preparing to go in.
