She had waited long enough. First, it was the seemingly endless winter and it's biting chill. Then she had to stay close for the pups. They were a bit older and she knew that the others could keep them safe in her brief absence. She craved fish and she felt that a change in diet would not be unwelcome from Elettra. So, she'd left late last night so as to be here in the early morning hours when the fish would be more active. The water was still a bit chilly in the shallows, but she welcomed the coolness. It would help keep her alert during her long hours of fishing. Especially after getting next to no sleep last night due to her travel.

She was content in the early morning silence, knowing that the gentle song of the nearby birds would soon greet her. She stared intently at the water, eyes sharp for any sign of the aquatic life moving closer, moving in range of her deadly jaws. She'd already caught three and had just moved to this location as the fish had stopped returning to her previous patch. To an onlooker, she appeared a fiery wolf statue in the shallows, only her tail moving in the current....

I don't know when this was dated but liquid time so wth. hopefully after he's joined to WR?

Out on his own for a short while, Kasai trots along a well worn game trail on the hunt for anything that might catch his eye. Whether it be deer, elk, rabbit, or even squirrel the burnt wolf was planning on eating something today without taking food from the caches of the pack.

His black fur twitches under the mornings slight chill. The moist air however promised that it would be a warmer day. One that would bug the dark wolf if he decided to stay out under the sun for too long. His yellow gaze scanned the area for prey sweeping past a bunch of wild flowers and dogwood trees. Their white flowers seemingly sparkling as the breeze touched them flipping the petals onto their backs. Then there were the willow trees, something that he was now quite used to seeing. The Kage paused admiring a black and blue butterfly the likes of which he'd never seen before. The fluttering insect would be known to humans as a Spicebush Swallowtail butterfly. It's appearance so far north was surprising to any viewer as these butterflies generally live farther south.

Perhaps that's why Kasai had never seen one. His yellow eyes stayed glued to it as it flitted around the clearing and onto the trunk of a tree. Not big enough for a meal though... He sighed then broke his stare with the beautiful creature and continued along the trail.

Eventually the trail came to the edge of a lagoon. A lagoon that has amused and given sanctuary to wolves for as long as they had lived in this land. Once at the bank of the lagoon the black wolf looked around once more. No deer were drinking from the clean waters, which meant no lunch was there for the hungry male. Instead all he saw was the russet frame of a female wolf standing ankle deep in water just staring at the surface.

At first Kasai thought she was looking at her reflection and started to greet her. But then a ripple on the surface near the woman betrayed her real motive and he kept his yap shut now watching her intently. So she's hunting? Fish it seems.. He scented the air nose twitching and realized three things. 1) that the woman he was watching was a member of his pack, 2) that she must have already caught a few fish before hand for he could smell now rotting fish nearby, and 3) that he had no clue what the fishing womans name was. Obviously someone from the pack I haven't met yet. He watching as the ripples slowly began to edge their way closer to the female.

Will she get it? His thoughts echoed as the dark wolf watched in anticipation.

Yes, it is after he joined! They just haven't met... sorry about her greeting... :P

It seemed to take forever, but eventually small ripples in the water, about ten feet away caught her attention. Rigidly she reminded herself that as good as she was at fishing, the success wasn't hers until she had the slippery little devils firmly in her deadly jaws. She loved to fish and her patience had been legendary in her birth pack, even as a yearling. Once she'd learned the game from an uncle she'd lived for the thrill of the catch. There was no long chase, running over land in this game. It was one of patience and timing and it was a skill that few could match on her level and for this the red woman was thoroughly proud. Not in a boastful way, merely proud of her skill, which only added to the Thorben mystique.

Golden amber eyes locked on the shining form swimming just beneath the surface of the water, darting to and fro after unseen prey of his own. Behind him were several smaller forms, but she discarded them from her thoughts. The largest was her target and she waited for him to get close enough, wiry muscles bunching beneath her lush pelt in preparation. This was the critical moment where most lost patience and tried to lunge for their prey too soon. Fish were fast. They might swim lazily about, but when push came to shove they were fast! If you didn't wait for the ideal moment, when they were practically under your nose, then all of your time an effort were wasted.

It took another twenty minutes for the cautious fish to get in range. He hadn't lived this long by being foolish, but she hadn't moved and eventually all four of the fish were swimming in and out of her legs, hunting the tiny schools of fish in the shallows and still she waited. One of the smallest fish swam beneath her nose and she was tempted to just go for it. There was no guarantee that the one that she wanted would place himself within her reach, but she felt like taking a gamble. If she missed out, she still had the three fish upon the shore to take home to Lady Elettra.

Just when it seemed that it would never happen he darted beneath her head and she struck, moving like lightning. She'd aimed just ahead of him and as he darted forward her jaws camped down on the large form. She nearly lost her grip, due to his size and clamped down harder, refusing to let his frantic flailing hamper her success. With a deft, well-practiced flip of her head she threw him far up the bank, upon the shore where he flopped and bounced weakly, desperately trying to get back to the water. As he moved closer to the shore with his efforts, she hurried out of the water and firmly placed a russet paw upon his body, stilling him as he gulped for air.

Before she could give him a killing bite to end his misery, she was startled to realize that she wasn't alone. An unknown black wolf stood a ways off, staring intently at her. Surprise and a small surge of the familiar fear filled her as she also realized that it was a male wolf. Her hackles instantly raised, a low warning growl emitted from her raised lips and her amber eyes blazed fiercely as water dripped from her soaked face.

It wasn't long until the rusty fea was rewarded by her patience. Kasai's yellow gaze watched what he thought was a fish (by the ripples in the water) swim right towards the female. She snapped downward with a quick thrust of her body and flung the gasping creature onto dry land. The woman readied her teeth to give the sizable fish a quick end and Kasai couldn't help but growl in approval. However she stopped before killing her prey.

It was either his growl alerting the woman or simply her sharp eyes which spotted the dark wolf. Immediately her hackles raised. She looked ablaze in flame as her Thorben russet fur stood on end, her eyes glimmering dangerously while she growled long and low. Though Kasai found it somewhat ironic that a flame such as she would be dripping wet. She still seemed to burn off those water droplets fast enough.

Cocking his head questioningly the dark male suddenly realized that he had done the wrong thing here. It was not polite to stare, as much as he was transfixed by her earlier hunting ability. With a dip of his head the burnt man greeted her while averting her steamy gaze. Though he didn't lower his head so much the male did lower his tail to a subordinates position to perhaps appease the fiery woman.

"Hello there. I'm sorry I must apologize for staring. That was quite rude of me. Though I thought it best to stay quite so as not to scare the fish instead of greeting you properly.." He tilted his head in the other direction now listening for her growl to perhaps cease. He wouldn't try to glance at her amber gaze until she'd possibly accepted his apology, and if not perhaps he would continue along and leave the woman be.
