Iopah Reinier
Travel worn footpads carried her over the sparse turf, pressing deep into the drought-hardy wild thyme. Already the morning air was beginning to warm and the scent of thyme was strong.

Iopah breathed deeply, inhaling the humid pungent air. She exhaled sharply through her nose. Iopah was a mountain wolf, she was used to dry air constantly caught in the breeze. Her lip curled in disgust. What she wouldn't give to escape this sticky and oppressive weather. The pale second eased into a patch of lady fern growing along the border patrol route. From here she could just barely see where the thicket started to thin out. Iopah knew that just beyond were the cedars. That land was not her responsibility, so with a solitary ear flick she turned to continue the patrol around her home. A bird flew overhead toward the cedars. Iopah ducked, scarcely glancing up. She had too many other things to worry about. Since Hollow's injury she'd needed to cover an extra patrol. After Liam's disappearance he'd had to do the morning as well as his customary later evening run. Iopah didn't complain. It wasn't his fault and he would recover. This is simply how it would have to be in the meantime.

She would manage. The wiry female had traveled thousands of miles and gone many days without a meal before. Now, at least, she had a purpose. Now she was not alone. As far as Iopah was concerned it was a fair trade. The nearly forgotten raven cried out and Iopah turned, almost lazily in that direction. Ravens were the ultimate scavengers and it was possible it had found something to eat. Her stomach twisted hopefully. She hadn't as much time to hunt for herself. The pups needed all she could catch for them, the tireless second had reverted to eating odds and ends along the patrol route. Stealing from ravens would definitely fall into that category. They had eaten from enough of her kills that it was only fair. There was another scream and Iopah was off and running. The raven was not far off and Iopah hoped to snag it and quickly return.

I'm imaging 2 or more ravens fighting over something already they found.
