Tannis Andreas

For the past few weeks Tannis had been restless. There was no sign of his dearest Princess Morganna anywhere and an innate part of him was slowly succumbing to the idea that he had gone in the wrong direction. What he could remember aside from the intimidating Guardian who had intercepted his meeting with the Willow Ridge royal, was that her dominion had been decorated by trees, willow trees. That singular clue, on its own, should have been enough for him to figure out that he was, indeed, somewhere where he wasn't meant to be.

He crept along the roots of the cedar and fir trees, constantly bothered by the occasional pine needle the poked at the vulnerable space between his paw pads and toes. While he had thought to crawl along the carpet of needles, he had abandoned the idea a few days ago after finding that his elbows and heels were no match for such torture. It was easier to get by when only his paws were subject to pain. It hurt much more than when he was crawling about, but traveling on his feet meant that he didn't forge an obvious trail through the Cedarwood and he didn't accidentally scrape himself on an unexpected rock beneath the debris on the forest floor.

It wasn't until he discovered a foreign scent - a female wolf who had given birth this past Spring - that he perked up and came back to his senses. The fur on his tail bristled and his ears, at long last, came up. He shoved his nose back down into the pin-like evergreen leaves and frowned. Her trail must have been several days old by now and he soon wondered if it was worth the while to follow her and her son.

The Andreas huffed and sighed, standing up straight so that he could properly look around. His jaw quivered as he spotted the wide entrance of an underground burrow just within sprinting distance. The idea of him trespassing yet again stuck his mind like lightning and he froze, trembling as a singular word fled from his lips, "Hello??"
