She believed it was important to encourage, and not to coddle the children all the time. There was time when they needed her, and times they needed to take a step having faith things would be alright, that they could do it by themsevles. It was hard to hold them close, and try to let them be independent. Sadly Jayse had no examples good or bad, what a mother should be. So she constantly worried if she was doing it wrong. There wasn't exactly a do over button in life. It was in these times she missed their father, knowing they would have balanced each other out in this. She was doing it alone, and leading a pack at the same time.

She grinned in good humor, sure that Trisden would keep her word. She hoped more the child would call for her, and the others if a trespasser came. Jayse had to take things one day at a time. It was the only way she managed to get through it all.

She stopped a knowing smile on her lips, her tail swaying once. She had not explained snow to them, and was not all surprised that she wanted to know what this was. Jayse hadn't explained at first on the off change Raigo or Elettra might have told her. "Snow, is sorta like rain Tris. But instead of being clear it's white, puffy flakes. In the winter it snows a lot, and the flakes pile up, covering everything in white. It's a little colder, but snow is fun," she said giving a wink. She already could see the pups were getting the starts of their winter coats.

Trisden Lyall

Though oblivious to the exact reasons behind them, Trisden still felt pride at each smile that she saw on Jaysyek's face. They were marks that she was doing a good job. Before her mother spoke, she idly wondered if she could come on these excursions again; if she did well at marking the boundaries, would her mother invite her along? Her mind was full of the future when snow was explained, but was quickly taken over by this news of something so wonderful and strange. Automatically, her nose went up, almost as if she believed it could 'snow' at any moment.

She processed this information for a few moments, staring up into the sky, contemplating something with great importance. "So... the sky snows? Will it be scared of me too?"

The gray stroked mother did another quick check around the familiar forest. Nose, eyes, and ears told her all was fine, and she tried to relax though her muscles were tight, on the ready if she needed to move in to protect her offspring. Smile broadened from cheek bone to cheek bone as her little girl looked to the sky for this snow. She gently shook her head while letting out a single, quiet chuckle. Soon her ears pricked up thoughtful, and she chose her words carefully. "Snow doesn't get scared. It...well it's sorta like a rock. It can't feel anything." She looked down at the tan face, wondering what was going on behind the young facade.

"Does that make sense?" She asks, curious what Trisden was getting from all this, or if she needed to explain it from a different angle. She knew she wasn't the greatest at deciphering things, those she was learning with four questioning children. She waits and than lingers to a large stone, which she started to rub against next.

Trisden Lyall

Processing the valuable information, Trisden nodded seriously. Snow was like a rock, but it was like rain, but it was cold, and it was like flakes too. It all made sense.

"Yes, mother," she said, content with her understanding. No doubt all would be more fully explained once this snow came out of hiding in the sky and faced her properly. Right now, though, Trisden beamed up at Jaysyek, making sure to remember her manners. That always made mother happy, right? And, after all, that was the whole point of this adventure. "Thank you.

"So, do you has to do this everyday?" she said, returning to their past topic, directing her attention to the nearest bush in order to rub herself against it. "Don't you get boreded? You should play more!" It wasn't a meaningful comment, only intended to be casually helpful, but it was true that Trisden would have liked to spend more light-hearted time around her remaining parent.

She drifts from the stone, and stands surveying the short distance they had come. It was a never ending task, she wished she could have help with it not for several reasons. She shoves the threatning thoughts, and quickly grins, nose titled torward Trisden's smiling face. "Of coarse, sweetheart." She says, her long tail more relaxed, wagging softly. It was nice just having one on one time, she looked to the little girl to memorize her happy face, the moment.

"I try to do it every day," she replies, walking to her next target, though hesitating not to leave Tristan behind. Really she did do it every day, not the whole round, but piece by piece just depending. A quiet laugh escaped her at her child's thoughtful musing. She laughed because the idea was rather sweet."Oh Trisden, If I could I would never stop playing," she says, her tone warm as it usually was most times. "But you know what? Now your all getting bigger you'll be able to come with me to hunt." She smiled a knowing smile, and continued following the invisible line.
