Renier Lyall
@Darkmoon Sure, Darkmoon could use it. :3 I figure if he finds it instead of something alive it works.
Renier Lyall
you can set yourself on fire, but you're never gonna learn

Brow arched, hoping the younger man didn't over do it with the water. He only seemed to enjoy having reached it. It made the Lyall grateful for what he did have. Maybe, that was the lesson he had needed. Things could be a lot worse. He would take this over a sermon any day.

There was a faint flick of interest tinted with bemusement at the name spoken. Darkmoon. It brought the word heathen to his mind. Darkmoon was not like those ones. He didn't look like he had that in him. Murderous, venomous, poison. "Quite intimidating," he noted in a serious tone. Feeling some awe in what it could mean. The rouge didn't feel they were quite at a point where he should ask.  Baby steps.

He caught sight just how his compliment wasn't something he knew what to do with.  How swiftly he put it to death, disregarding it. If it couldn't be true. A frown tugged at his lips, as the younger wolf cast his head down, explaining. Quite bravely, eyes eventually found their way to his. Part of Renier wanted to laugh. He shouldn't be any beacon of hope. Darkmoon's problems seemed a lot easier to fix.

"Well Darkmoon, what you did to that caribou is a bit of it. You just need more practice." He straightened himself, walking over to the dark cloaked wolf. There was a kind smile, and a glint to his eye. An idea. "Lets see if we can find something. How are you with the small stuff?" The caribou were off limits, but it didn't mean there weren't other things to be found. He would feel better if the lad got a bit of food in him too. It wasn't like he had anything else to do.

Darkmoon
("Walking over to the dark cloaked pumpkin" xD)

Darkmoon gritted his teeth at the condescending nature of Renier's comments. He did not need this wolf to make him feel better. He had overcome enough hardship on his own, that he did not need some stranger he had just met to validate his skills. Yet, Darkmoon had to concede, he was not a skilled hunter, no matter how hard he tried to convince himself otherwise. He was terrible at it in fact, his success rate very low. Begrudgingly, he nodded at Renier's suggestion, a sour look on his face. At the very least, he would go along with him until they found food; then, Darkmoon could leave Renier and continue on his own.
"Alright then," he said, moving away from the river without waiting for Renier to take the lead. He might as well maintain some sense of proud. His tail flicking as he moved off, Darkmoon scented the air for some clue. There was no point going after the caribou as Renier had pointed out; with only two wolves it was next to impossible to take on an adult - and could one really count Darkmoon as one whole wolf? Instead, he moved away from the herd, searching the sparse covering of pine trees for any wayward prey.
Darkmoon paid little attention to the other wolf, and had he left Renier behind, he never would have known. Still annoyed at the way he had been treated like a cub, it came as a shock when the smell hit his nose. It was putrid, strong, and meant only one thing - a carcass. Darkmoon knew the smell well, and his mouth instantly began to water. "Do you smell that?" he said absently to his companion, as his legs carried him unthinkingly towards the kill. It was on the ground, between two trees, a group of corvids tearing at it. Darkmoon ran up and scared them off, instantly sinking his teeth into the rancid flesh. He had no idea how long it had been there, and he did not care. That only made it smell nicer.

Renier Lyall
you can set yourself on fire, but you're never gonna learn

There seemed to be no pleasing the younger male, and the Lyall felt maybe he would give up on that endeavor. Should he care if he was a miserable creature and wanted to remain as such? What was the point? If the rogue should have learned anything, it would be to know when to quit. He didn't need any more hints. But, that line between pushing or going back often moved.

With little effort, his faded mask remained unaffected by the mood of his companion. He let @Darkmoon split away so much without a look back. A faint sigh, he took his time heading back up where he had came, drifting slowly behind the lone wolf. But, still checking with his own nose for possible food. The powerful aroma of carrion came to him only after Darkmoon had caught it. He was surprised, he should check to see if Renier had noticed.  Just like that he was charging off, and Ren pulled up the rear at a quick trot, golden eyes watching the birds scatter. He couldn't say what the animal use to be, and cautiously drew forward as Darkmoon broke into the meat. He didn't think their was competition, but he regarded the dark wolf carefully. It was likely the loner's first meal in some time, and if he had qualms about Ren taking a bit he rather see them now then with his own face shoved into dinner. It wasn't like he was super anxious to get a piece of...was it deer? Brow rose, in silent question. Maybe, a young caribou?

It didn't seem like Darkmoon was too worried about sharing, or that he was there. Without word, he went back the way he came. Maybe, in the future they'd cross paths again.
