He couldn't help but to be troubled by Jaysyek's exhaustion, as it seemed to take a hold of her in the wake. To this day he'd yet to really understand the reasoning behind her depressions, knowing only that they affected her body and mind to an extent that he could fully embrace - the kind of extent that was disastrous and tolling. His tail flicked as he watched the way her anger faded into sadness, and the way her eyes seemed to drown in the sea of tears that filled them, holding them there. It was a terrible sight, and although it was hard for him to see that look on her beautiful face, he knew that it was now when she needed him to be strong for her.
She nodded, agreeing that she was ready to go also, holding back her words along with her tears. She glanced back to the stones, perhaps only for the sake of seeing them with her own eyes in that moment, and he in turn couldn't help but to examine them further, looking over them with an astute sensitivity. Surely their mystery could be uncovered in the future, along with answers that he believed the snow-colored female had buried inside of herself.
The space between the pair narrowed as Jaysyek took a few baby steps in the general direction from which they'd come. His heart skipped a beat as the female leaned into his body, still warm from the altercation. She was ready to give up, but he wouldn't - couldn't - let her, not now...For a moment he halted, looking down to the curves of her saddened face as he tried to nestle her close and as best he could as a frigid, winter gust blew through the trees. Silver eyes gazed deeply into hers, brows coming together as his own emotions stirred. I'm here, they could have whispered to her.
He'd have carried her to somewhere safe and warm if it were possible. If it were possible, he'd give her every strength he had and take her suffering in exchange. For now, it was all he could do to lift her pouting chin supportively with a gentle nudge, to look her in those perfect, somber eyes and reassure her. He would take the lead without a second thought, stepping forward encouragingly. As the darkness, literal and figurative, closed in around them - black and cold in every sense - the only thing that felt warm was the inferno that raged inside of his heart for her.
