Clouds hid the moon from the world, consuming it, but never truly blocking out it's glory. Light still managed to radiate and illuminate those who tried to conceal it. Asruns could be compared to such a thing, no matter what life threw at them they'd remain powerful. Perhaps they were more like a mighty crusader fighting for what was right in the world. Strength. Dog eats Dog. Mercy was pathetic. Casting her mahogany eyes away from the sky the lone wolf settled her orbs onto the mighty Kingsfall forest beneath her. A river cut through the land with twists and turns that went this way then that. Where there was water, there was food.
The stomach of a rouge was usually empty, and Nightshade was no exception. Her belly grumbled in uncontrollable growls, churned within the confinements of flesh and skin. A snarl split her mouth into a greedy expression, her tongue trailing over her front teeth aggressively. Her chops were crumpled like an old gum wrapper that someone had attempted to smooth out. She was a predator and more importantly an Asrun, strength coursed through her blood lines like the mighty river did Kingsfall. Confident and independent even without Sabik, the yearling turned from the high point descending down the hill with ghostly grace.
Nightshade was fittingly so coated elegantly in a pelt of red that somewhat concealed and revealed her. Amongst the pitch black shadows she blended in with the darkness, but the strands of her agouti fur glowed beautifully in the moonlight. Muscles rippled beneath her pelt, medium sized body weaving through the dark trees. She was calm, like the gentle night, but held more fury than the skies themselves. No thunderstorm would compare to her wrath once she gained what she desired. One day she would be where no one could touch her, other than death himself. She would be almost immortal and more marvelous than the stars. At least, that's what the self centered creature believed, manipulated into the thought that while she would work hard everything was to fall into place according to her favor. Funny, that nature was to trick it's monster in her own game of chess.
The chilly water bit her mouth and sent shivers down her back, but the girl drank her fill without hesitation or complaint. Droplets trickled down Night's chin to splash onto the stony river bank. The yearling was cold tonight, and moving her head to glance to the right she thought of her father. Maybe if they hadn't been separated, or if he hadn't abandoned her, she would of have a familiar warmth to seek. Though that of a foreign one wasn't condemned, Nightshade didn't mind sleeping with the likes of stranger. As long as it wasn't some mutt or non timber waste. Unacceptable...
Now glancing to the left of herself, wet nose twitching, she cured her oblivion of the nearby pack. Surely they had plenty of food to spare, the thought causing a wicked grin that was unnatural. Lightly Nightshade's paws stepped forward, trusting in her sense of smell to guide her. The scents were faint, but with every movement grew more and more intense to confirm her judgment was so far right.
