This was a much different Vitani than the one he had known, the one who accompanied him on border patrols with a cutting tongue and a carefree laugh. Yet this nervousness that crept off of her skin, the sadness within her eyes, it all accompanied her words to serve as evidence that above all else, she cared. If the crown had shaken her this much, it meant she understood the gravity of what now rested in her paws. What was to be seen was whether this would pull her head under water, of she'd come to rise above it. Erebos very much wished for the latter.
Through the subtle signs her body relayed to him, the man was able to pick up on the fact that she wished for him to close the distance that had been put between them. No longer constrained by his suspicions, he padded to her side, reclining onto his haunches before extending his legs forward and sliding down onto his belly. His ember eyes overlooked the mountain ridge, still so tall despite their current altitude. It wasn't the Magnolia Trees, but this place by now had carved its way into his heart.
"This packs fucked up, that's fer sure," he commented idly after her mentions of his trust being the only placed within her, before returning his gaze to her framed face, a smile appearing at last upon his muzzle.
"We'll fix that, though."
