Guilt consumed him immediately after he spoke of Isolde’s death. He did not mean to shift the attention to him — it was the exact opposite of what he wanted. Like Kyna, Greer was a wallflower; he lurked in the shadows, constantly observing, and never wanting to spotlight to fall onto him. He almost recoiled away from the redhead as she shuffled toward him, her russet fur entwining with his obsidian pelt. Genuine sympathy came off the girl in waves, coating her words as they fell from her tongue. He swallowed the lump in his throat, unsure of how to handle the situation he had found himself in. He was supposed to be comforting her, not the other way around.
A frown had found it's way onto his maw as she spoke once more, pulling away from him as she watched him with her fiery gaze. There was a part of him that wanted her to return to her previous position, her small body wrapped up on his lanky limbs, but the other part was thankful for her absence.
He nodded, quietly agreeing with her words as she explained that perhaps the ridge was no longer his home. The shadow had felt so guilty for possessing thoughts about leaving the willows behind; he was thankful that his friend did not think it was a bad idea he wanted to go after something new. While he did not want to leave his family Greer knew he needed to be selfish. With all the family drama and uncertainty going on, Greer was growing more and more unsure of his place in Willow Ridge.
Her voice came once more, words hesitating on the tip of her tongue before they spilled into the quiet air between them. His brows narrowed softly as he considered her words, his interest peeking as she spoke of Oak Tree Bend. When he first thought of leaving his birth pack he had considered Silent Moon because of the redhead’s presence, and now the Bend was all he could think of. “Willows not Greer home for awhile…” he commented, his muzzle pointed at the ground as he spoke. “Greer would like Bend, Greer think…” he paused, mercury gaze dropping from his friend and focusing on his dark toes “But worried. Worried about family. Greer not trust some. Greer worry things go bad.” What held the shadow back from leaving was abandoning his family while the drama was still at an all time high. Otherwise he would have joined Kyna’s former pack months ago, well before its demise. “Greer stuck.” He sighed, exasperated at the realization, his nose wrinkling.
