Her teasing about his memory, though, left him staring blankly at her for several seconds, as the cogs turned behind the scenes trying to figure out if she was right. For a moment the antagonism was ignored in the need to know whether she was right - though that wouldn't last long. When had they last spoken about Greer? Suddenly it hit him, remembering his amusement at the idea of the shadow having a girlfriend, and Morganna's passing comment about him not sticking around. The Hecate part had definitely been his primary takeaway from that, but she was right, she had told him. With a low growl of indignation at her mockery, he moved to shove her back with his shoulder. "I didn't realise you were serious," he protested, excuse weak, but it didn't matter; her playful stance showed that she was expecting and practically inviting retaliation. So be it!
With more affectionate rumbling in his chest, he bore down on her, angling himself to try and force her down and over onto her back, a little payback for her earlier attack. Both riding on the high of what was to come, the pair fought and scuffled until their engines ran dry, enjoying each other's easy company and the way they could just let go around each other.
