Nope, no amount of back pedaling appeared to be capable of salvaging the sinking ship that was their conversation, and Sahalie began to crouch lower as the woman sighed. Sahalie wasn't usually so bad at interacting with other wolves, though mainly those wolves were her age or still not yet adults. Perhaps she was just doing a poor job of respecting her elders, though it was hard when her elders were just random hungry loners. It wasn't that she didn't like the older woman, she just couldn't seem to find a way to mesh with her. Even the little gentle brush against her head made feel worse, since it seemed to indicate that woman did not think much of her and was clearly done with the charade.

The little pause said everything: Sahalie had not been helpful at all to the woman. All the woman had asked for was about the hostility levels of the neighboring packs, and the girl had answered her as best she could but clearly not to a satisfactory level. There was something else that the woman wanted answered, something that she didn't want to speak aloud for some reason. So odd, so strange. Sahalie smiled shyly, wanting to sink into the ground with shame. "It's...it's no problem... Good luck."

And much quieter, "Sorry."
