Flair Smoke-Athesila
Midday - Sunny, 20 ° F/-7 ° C

The sun was out today, a bright glare against the azure sky, but it didn't seem to have any effect on the earth, so far below. Snow still lay piled high in the open fields, and even the densest canopies couldn't keep the eternal flurry at bay, leaving frigid  blankets on the forest floors, as well in the Thicket as the Cedarwood. The air itself remained frigid, nipping and biting at exposed ears and snouts of the creatures stupid enough to be out and about, rather than safe in their dens. The bears and squirrels had it right, sleep till the warmth returned. Then again, as much as a certain, young wolf abhorred the cold, the thought of being cooped up with her family for moons on end seemed even more appalling. She would have to shoulder the cold, and as her limited time in this world had thought her, that was done best by facing it head on.

Already, Flair Athesila had been den-bound for far too long, struck with a cold that seemed the shadow of her father's more prolonged illness. But she'd been in the very capable paws of her mother - herbs, stern voice and all – meaning she was now good as new, or as close as she needed to get to slip away from the coddling woman and her eagle eyes. Oh she'd so longed for clear breathing, in more than one sense, and now she had it, fields of white spread out all around her. Russet coat standing out starkly against the pristine background, the stocky pup made her way southeast, bored of the familiar scenery of the western forests. She had no particular goal in mind, nor a plan for what to do or when to turn back; But she sure was happy to be out and about.
