Zahira Asurn
a bit short sorry..... also so this starts on top of the monadnock, we need at least 4 wolves to take down anything bigger than a rabbit so hope someone will care to join

Moderate snow
9 ° F, -13 ° C

It had been forever since the Asurn had a belly filled with food, winter was starting to take its tool and honestly Whitestone was gathering more mouths to feed by the second. Zahira wasn't really certain why she was staying... any sain Asurn would have realized that this was running out of hand. but she was stubborn perhaps more the what was good for her, and she also had yet to learn more about this other Asurn that roamed the lands of the lore. So perhaps dealing with one problem at the time was a more rational way to go about it. So getting some meat on the table seemed like the first task at hand, as the woman who had recently joined had brought two extra children to the pack. Two extra mouths who could not support themselves, two more mouths that put their whole survival at risk.

She stood almost at the center of the top of the monadnock watching as snow fell onto the rocky surface around her eyes turning to the sky for a second, maybe not the best day for a hunt but they need food even if the weather wasn't perfect. She let out a short sigh, before she let out a bark hoping to gain the attention of a few of her pack mates. "Anyone fell like giving me a hand with hunting, be it rabbits or Caribou, I don't care"  She spoke in a neutral voice.

Craw
Where once available meat had been abundant, Craw had noticed - as well as had it pointed out to him - that it was somewhat less so these days. Whether or not it was due to the season or some other factor, they could not be sure, for none of them had yet passed a winter in this tundra and thus could not know if the scarcity was typical or not. Not that it mattered in the short-term; hungry wolves were hungry wolves, and if this was to prove the norm then they could simply make sure to stock up in advance of the winter next season, but that didn't help them here and now.

The fact that Whitestone had double in the snowy months alone was hardly a factor to be overlooked. While Craw was not unhappy with the productivity of his members, it remained that they had taken on the Coho children, @Anaia, and in general wolves unfamiliar with the area who had to adjust their hunting patterns and knowledge to these new grounds. Even those who had been here from the pack's formation had had to learn how to treat the lowlands in the snow, what to expect in contrast to the warmer seasons. It was a learning curve for everyone, and perhaps that was contributing to it.

Perhaps also, they were having to share their hunting grounds with the damnable Rye wolves, and Craw could only hope they were feeling a similar drought.

Thus, when one of their newer members barked to get the attention of those lounging on the top of the monadnock, and suggested a hunt, Craw rolled back over onto his front without hesitation. The remains of the musk ox had long since been picked clean, and the pieces of deer they'd dragged back up from their hunt following Drestig and Jessie's visit were almost depleted. All that remained were the small game and scavenged pieces that the Whitestone wolves brought back, and Craw did not want to see them vanish.

"Something big," he rumbled, shaking off the snowflakes he had let settle into his pelt, glancing at the others present with expectation clear in his face. They'd need more than just himself and Zahira if they were to take down anything substantial.

Wraith Kael

Wraith stood to join @Craw immediately, flurries flying from his black coat as he gave a quick shake. "@Mittani and I passed the scent of a herd northwest of here," the Second's voice rumbled. "It seemed sparse, not many numbers, but should do if we're all together." Amber eyes turned to settle on @Odin and @Kara with a proud smile. They'd grown since he was away, and while the stories he'd heard so far demanded chiding at a later time, he saw no reason why they should not both be clamoring to join in. "Up, you two," he said, stepping over to add a nudge though he knew he needn't bother.

A pack hunt was the perfect way to see how the pair of them had developed their skills. Not only that... His gaze settled upon @Zahira with interest as well as all the other new females. A hunt would tell him a lot about his new packmates as well. It felt odd not to have met them at their joining and left Wraith feeling less than warm about their presence which was wholly unlike him. The northerner was usually the welcoming one compared to Craw and Morganna, smoothing over their roughened edges.

Lorcán Artemieva
Zahira's bark snapped his attention away from the caribou skull he had been contentedly gnawing on. From his position, tucked behind a large boulder which shielded him with the worst of the snow, russet ears perked up curiously followed by his head. With a questioning look in his golden eyes, he gazed across to the fiery haired woman and listened to her suggestion. The idea of a group hunt sounded rather appealing, especially given his recent spell of bad luck when hunting alone.

His gaze flickered to Craw then, who had risen to stand and approach the woman before Lorcan had even had a chance to lift a paw. The subordinate licked his lips at his superiors suggestion before yapping in agreement from behind the rock. Rising up slowly, Lorcan gave a thorough shake of his pelt before he bowed down into a stretch, jaws parting wide to allow his salmon pink tongue to roll out from his mouth briefly as he yawned.

By the time Lorcan had wondered over to sidle in beside Zahira and Craw, Wraith had beaten him to it. Tail swaying eagerly, Lorcan dipped his head towards the two more dominant males present before directing his attention to Wraith, who apparently had some information on where herbivores were likely to be. "I'm in." Lorcan declared eagerly, sending a nod towards @Zahira, as he moved to stand beside the two males present.

Spieden Coho
Spieden's ears pricked at the bark calling together a hunt. She'd tried her best to scrounge up whatever little rodents she could on her own, but her stomach was definitely yearning for some fresh red meat. She was distinctively aware that in winter, her and her children would be more of an anchor on the pack than a boon. She had to show that Coho's were productive, worked hard, and earned their keep, and with this in mind she quickly leapt to her paws, or at least as quickly as such a hefty wolf could. She had no idea what, exactly, they would be hunting, but her guess was one of those long antlered deer that lived up here. While she couldn't offer much help in strategy for an animal she'd never hunted before on unfamiliar terrain, she at least had muscle to lend to the cause.

Spieden looked over her shoulder, giving a low woof that Mako and @Marina would recognize as a summons if they were nearby to hear. She trotted over to the small group that was forming, her head low as she nosed in at the fringes and tried to make her large stature as unassuming as she could. She quietly snuffed, looking to the others. "I'll help." She said.

Zahira Asurn
Jesus i'm a fool no posting order on this XD

The red woman smirked as others started to gather around, the first to sign up binge the pail leader. Zahira allowed her eyes to rest on @Craw for a moment before she nodded "Yeah the more meat the better" she agreed with a nod before looking around her eyes falling on the dark second "A herd sounds good, what animals are we talking about, though?" She questioned @Wraith better know what they were killing before heading out. After all, there was no use in bringing a hunting party to small to do the job. However her eyes lingered a bit on the dark man, he had only recently returned as far as she knew, bringing back yet another mutt. Then a face she still wished did not exist approached her,  the healer,  @Lorcan was a thorn in her eye a debt that had yet to be paid and she would much prefer to snap his neck than be in depth to a man who was of no importance to her.  However, she still gave him a short nod, despite her own disliking for the man his help was needed. And as the fifth wolf joined them she gave the woman nod, @Spieden  was new to the pack and Zahira knew almost nothing about her other than she arrived with two more mouths to feed.

"alright seems like we are hunting something big then," she said "anyone with any experience hunting these beasts to help make out a plan?" she asked as she sat down, better be prepared, even if the pack could need a bit of thinning out. Unfortunately right now all the gathered wolves would probably need to complete the hunt.

Anaia Lieris

Word Count:  210

Anaia didn’t spend a ton of time up on top of the monadnock, preferring to find something to do around the territory.  Be it hunting or just exploring, she liked to keep moving.  She’d been stationary far too long, after all.

Today was no different.  She’d been down around the lake and was just heading back up to see if @Saradathia was around when she heard some of her packmates talking.  There were a few she hadn’t really met standing there, but it sounded like they were going out.  “Are you going for a hunt?” She asked, hesitantly approaching.  She didn’t want to interrupt, but the opportunity to go out with her new family was too good a chance to pass up.  “Am I too late to join you?” She wagged her tail slightly, hoping they would allow her to come.  She noticed Lorcan was among them, and glanced at him, wondering if he would advise her against it.  Her leg hadn’t hurt at all for a while now, and she was desperate to put it to the test.  This would be the perfect moment for her to do so and help the pack out at the same time.

It was about time she started earning her keep around here.
