Molten gold gaze stared blankly into the rippling surface of the hot springs he stood part way in, what little warmth that managed to rise from the naturally heated water swirling around facial features that had clearly seen better days in the form of steam clouds. Winter had made a comeback during recent days, dusting the world in another thick layer of powdery snowflakes much to Vesper's disapproval. Had the agouti man not endured enough with his youngest daughter going missing, his oldest swelling wider by the day due to her impregnated state and finding out a returning member had been murdered in cold blood? 

The thought alone had the man's head spinning wildly enough to force creamy lids to close tightly over his golden eyes, shutting out the pain the best he could while its fingers encased the beating organ in his chest and squeezed with all its might. A low whimper building in the back of his throat that took a couple hard swallows to push down, gradually making way for a growl to take its place while a paw struck out against the surface of the warm liquid underfoot to cause more ripples to spread out across its bubbling surface. When? When were they going to finally receive a break and have something good to wake up to in the morning?

It was this kerfuffle of thoughts that caused the lakeside patriarch to step away from those that remained, at least temporarily. He needed to get away, try and find a breath of fresh air from the grief that lay so heavily around the territory and threatened to suffocate them all. So with word only to Namid he had left the day prior, sleeping under the open sky near the hot springs in hopes of feeling better, but no sense of relief could be felt. His heart still felt heavy, his head a whirlwind...
