Larkcall Lowlands So nice to meet you, it feels like the first time

Of all the responses he could have received, Askan didn't anticipation aggression. His questions were valid, how was he supposed to know that Mace had a massive chip on his shoulder? That he was too busy mourning the past and lamenting over what could have been. It wasn't Askan's problem, nor was he going to offer a paw to help out, but at the very least Mace could try and pull his head out of his arse. But maybe it was too late for that, maybe he was a lost cause in that regard. Oh well, the Selwyn wasn't torn up by it.

He didn't however, appreciate being snarled at. Sure, no sound came from his muzzle but the look in his eyes was undeniable. The Rye Guardian had fought over all sorts of causes, but never did he think he'd get into a brawl because a man was defending his pack's honour, even though he knew next to nothing about it. It was completely ridiculous, and as much as a brute he could be even Askan wasn't willing to bare his teeth for that. What did he have to gain? Nothing. If anything, he was bored by the prospect. Whatever, he'd let this man defend the past till his heart was content. In the meanwhile, Askan would spend his time doing something more productive, or at least share it with someone he actually liked.

"Whatever." Askan grumbled, not realising quite how alike they truly were. It was like looking into a mirror and seeing his own grumpy reflection staring back at him. "If you're gonna be an arse, fine. Go sulk on your own." It was no skin off of his nose. The loner could do whatever he liked, the Selwyn really couldn't care less.

So with that he turned and headed back the way he came, back to his home and the safety of the Rye Field.
