Her paws had carried her away from White Fir Notch earlier in the day despite not wanting to travel far from pack lands. It hadn't been that long since the puppies had been born and Nauja had wanted to stay close in case she was needed. Still everyone especially the new mother had to eat and to show that she was more that willing the seagull had been in search of something to bring home to feed the pack.
The sun had started to droop in the sky as she traveled at an easy pace searching for the trail of some prey animal to follow. Her nose had caught the stale scent of a few rabbit tracks but as yet there hadn’t been anything worth following. It was a little disappointing but she didn't want to give up until she either caught something or it became too late and she would need to head home.
It was strange in her mind and on her tongue to refer to the notch as her home but that was what it was now. The wolves residing within her family and she meant to prove that everyday to them and herself. She hadn't noticed the thick copse of trees that she now found herself among with the leaves just starting to appear on the branches. She and Ishtar had passed through this place on their way to find the notch.
The drizzle that had been steady for it seemed the past few days had started to seep through her dark pelt as she slowly picked her way through the trees. She wasn't hopeful she'd find anything in the orchard but it didn't hurt to look.
