He was pretty sure that meant they were best friends now or something because most people would have taken the easy route and called him out. But Laike was a man of surprises. The best surprises because he might have been scarred but he didn't act like it. That was more than enough for friendship in Cottongrass' mind.
His tail continued to drag along the ground in happy swipes and his rounded ears perked up at the question.
"Mmm." He started off. That was a good question. He didn't know what brought him to the forest other than a sense of boredom and the desperate impulse to shirk responsibility. Joining a pack was scary. It was easier for him to roam around the land and pretend he never thought about it. But that was a mouthful and Laike didn't need to know any of that. So he settled for a careful "I don't know." It was close enough to the truth so that meant it wasn't a total lie. Which meant less guilt for him! He shuffled on the spot.
"I guess I came here to explore? I have a few friends nearby I could probably visit." His smile brightened and he perked up like he was waiting for Laike to confirm the idea. It was a good idea. He could bother Aytigin and Otter if they were around.
