Draven Leigh
@Neha @Castel @Kino
Draven's fur slicked down to his body, showing off the muscular frame that was normally hidden beneath his thick pelt. It wasn't a flattering look but he didn't spare even a moment's thought on it, what mattered was Neha and the children threatening to come out. Rushing forward to take his place at her side as she hurried to the den he pressed his nose gently against his flank Ina silent encouragement, a welcome to the pups in their. As they reached the clearing of the den that had been selected and prepared the father to be noted that at least the herbs he had gathered were still intact. It would help now, with any anxiety and bleeding and the afterbirth care that the woman would certainly need.

He wasn't sure what to do. Did he go in or did he wait outside until he was invited in? Draven couldn't remember what Namid had done, had he even been there? Everything before this very moment just seemed like a blur. Thankfully Neha didn't leave him in this state of purgatory for too long. At the sound of his name the dark man was instantly in the den, herbs held gently in his jaws. Curling around the pregnant wolf so their flanks were pressed together, two crescent moons fit together like a puzzle. Placing the plants at her paws he didn't bother explaining what they were, she had herbal training and would know what they were and what to do.

His leathery nose found its way into the soft fur behind her ear where it met her neck and he murmured, "It will be over soon Neha, you're doing great. Everybody is okay, you'll be okay." He hoped at least, he couldn't really hold such a hefty promise but he wanted it to be true, willed it to be what happened.

They'd gotten everything fixed so that Neha could give birth safely. Cas couldn't help but feel pride in her packmates, and the little second-in-command padded over to the entrance of the den. She didn't stick her face in or anything, but she wanted to be clear when she spoke. "You guys need anything, let me know," the girl offered, and then backed up to lay down at one corner of the entrance, making it very obvious that she was guarding the two of them and their unborn children.

With all that Draven had done for her, she owed him at least this much. And even if she didn't, she would've done it anyway. She felt such pride in Quaking Vale - more than she ever thought she'd feel. Even with rain dripping down her face and muddy water drenching her pelt, she couldn't help but smile. Large ears tilted toward the den entrance, listening anxiously for any puppy squeaks or squeals. It was at that moment that she realized something very trivial, but something that held a lot of meaning for her.

Since her father was kept for breeding, he and his new mate had had a litter or two since Cas had been born, but never before had she been this close to a mother giving birth to her children. She had always been separated by a couple of fences, and never was allowed to be near them after their birth. It was odd to think that she had quite a few half-siblings in the world, and she didn't even know their names.

Sighing, the girl rested her chin on her paws, turning her full attention back toward the den.

Last post here. So sorry for the horrendous wait!

Now safe in the confines of the birthing den with Draven curled protectively around her, Neha shut out the rest of the world. She let the contractions come, remembered their shared medical knowledge and breathed.  She had to let her body do the work, to listen to it's cues. If she did that, hopefully she would have a smooth delivery.

She didn't know how much time had passed since she entered the den. If it had been seconds, minutes or even hours. But when the time came and she felt an overwhelming need to push, that's exactly what she did. Through the stabbing pain she endured, encouraged lovingly by Draven every step of the way. And at last, a single dark body emerged. Frantically, tenderly she reached for the newborn. She pulled him close, cleaning him off excessively until he was dry. He had very nearly had a water logged birth and after the ordeal she had been through, she wanted him to be as dry and warm as possible. Collapsing against her partner, Draven, she released an exhausted, happy sigh. "A son. We have a beautiful, healthy son." The child was perfect, squealing loudly, squirming as he found his place of choice at her belly. He soon settled, soothed by his first warm meal. His newborn coat was rich with dark browns and honey tones. Like a ray of sunshine on this rainy, dark day. And they bestowed on him the name Sachiel. The water angel.
