Remi had to keep a straight face as Percy acted all judgy. If that girl had had a real problem with Reyes it would have been obvious long before today. With the air cleared, and no turncoats they could get on with it. It was time to make this official.

She kept up, feeling like a ball of energy herself. This would be the first pack hunt she'd had since leaving home. It didn't saddened her. She just felt that much more glad she was here. Carrying a wide smile, she was pleased to see the Selwyn had one of his own. The youngsters were quick to head out. Cottongrass issued a challenge. "You're on!" She sped onward in the same direction the great white had taken.

 

One by one, they all agreed – and one by one, the small group of gathered wolves dispersed to claim Shallow’s Edge properly, not just as a general area where wolves lurked, but an established pack they’d all defend. Even the puppies themed enthused, as did Cottongrass (though he never had any doubt about the pale yearling), and Reyes found his worries about the youths slowly slipping away. He rumbled quietly, watching them go until it was only he and Askan left.

With a small grin, he turned to his mate. “If I knew you had a knack for this before, mi luna, I might have suggested our departure sooner.” His eyes were soft, affectionate, and then he reached over, nipping at the other wolf’s chin. “Well? Let’s go, alpha. There’s a lot of work to be done before we feast in victory.”
