Owlen had found his cousin awhile back, but not his sister. They had been sticking primarily to one area, away from the nearby pack, and pretty much solitude from anything. There a hole lie in the ground, an old den of someone's or something's that had been left behind. It was big enough for the two wolves and they had been doing fine on their own, catching food, keeping other critters from the den, and even making a small cache for themselves. They argued frequently about what to do about Lumi's disappearance. Owlen was sure she would return, but January insisted she left the lowlands. Still the many strongly believed that his little sister would come back to the lands most like home.
However, as time went on he became more and more concerned. Where was she? How was she? It was her first heat, was someone taking advantage of her? She had been given the talk...but still. Owlen and January, following Ody's warning on not passing the wall of stench, had moved out that morning with intent to ask them. Maybe just maybe they had seen his little Lumi. She was so young...and this world was cruel. It was midday before they reached the boarders, having kept their little den site farther off. Olwen noted to himself that they would need to move after this. Wouldn't want anyone messing with them afterall.
Owlen approached the boarders, lifting his maw to howl, January joining in the call. Then, the two waited, Jani sternly reminded Owlen of his manners by nipping at his bum, "Be respectful." Wincing the white male lowered his tail, allowing it to find an unfamilar place slinked between his legs. January did the same, but futhermore lowered herself to a degree with ears off to the side. Other than his tail, Owlen did not relent on his normal proud posture. He knew who he was and where he stood, it didn't matter that his family was miles away and he only owned a small den here. He was Owlen Spitfire. The wounds from his fight with Ody had healed well, but garnished him some battle scars nontheless.
