Clearwater Tarn I can promise you yes, I am dreamer too

RE: A recent heat wave has left the forest drier than usual.

Oof, it was hot.

Jenessa let out a tired huff as she splayed out in the long grass, her lips down turned in a frustrated little pout. She was bored, laying around in the shade all day was so so so so boring! But the moment she went out into the sunlight she got all hot and panty. It didn't even take very long, moments ago she'd darted out into the sunlight and frockled, pranced about as she always did, only to have to retreat after maybe five minutes of play! It wasn't fair.

Her eyes that had once been puppy blue were starting to fade to Selwyn yellow, a hue just as bright and hot as the summer sun. Her coat was changing too, rather than just being solid black, splodges of grey and white were beginning to appear on her fur. She looked more and more like her Da everyday.

But what was she to do? With a sigh she clambered to her paws and shook out her coat, maybe a big would be able to help. They were always good at that, giving her what she wanted. And if not then at the very least she would have someone to keep her amused.

"Heeeeey!" She yelled at the top of her voice as her stubby tail flicked behind her.

She could not ignore the heat that had riddled the lands. While the mountain walls did their best to shelter the Tarn wolves, there was no hiding completely from the sun. She had opted for sticking to the wooded parts of the territory. It was still hot and dry but it was better than being right out in the sun. The mother couldn't even imagine how the dark-furred members were feeling.

Her good ear perked at the sound of a call, loud and childish in tones. She figured it to be none other than Jenny mentioning her own son wouldn't nearly be as loud. Piety rose from her position to head off towards the call. Surprisingly she had not been very far from the Selwyn child. Although with the markings that seemed to be finally coming in, the Santoro had to wonder just how Selwyn she would stay.

What are we screaming at today, Jenny? The leader asked with kind tones and a smile. The girl was rather rowdy for being Lenae's child but there was nothing wrong with that.

Jenny wasn't left waiting long. She thought her Ma or Da would come running, but it was the white lady instead. Pi. But she didn't run, she walked along as though she didn't have a care in the world, as though there was no reason to hurry. Jenny was having none of that. Quick quick, there was no time to lose! Rushing over to Pi's side, Jenny's tongue poked out of the side of her mouth as she panted, her little sides heaving. Maybe she was putting on a bit of a show, exaggerating, but how else was she supposed to get what she wanted?

"Piiiiiiii!" She moaned as she dramatically propped herself up against Piety's leg, as though she was too weak to stand on her own. She stared up at Piety with her big yellowish eyes, the absolute picture of self-pity. Woe was her. "Hottttt." She whined, tugging on those maternal heart strings.

None of Piety's children had been whiny (not that she could obviously recall Sven but if Cyril and Valentin were anything to go off of...) so she could only chuckle softly when the Selwyn girl seemed to whine while leaning against her. Although she couldn't argue with the child's words. It was indeed a bit too hot for anyone's liking.

Her head lowered to nudge at the child's rump, intent on getting her to move again. Come. I know how we can cool off. She would take the lead in order to lead them to the tarn's edge. It was shallow enough in most parts that the child could take a swim with supervision. If things went wrong Piety could easily scoop the child up by the scruff. She wasn't too big for that just yet.

Have you seen the water? The pale Santoro asked as she glanced from the sight of the water to the Selwyn child.

Yessss, Pi could help! In the blink of an eye Jenny dropped her weary facade and trundled after Piety, her tail wriggling behind her. The duo headed towards the big blue and-ohhhh. Water, so that's what it was called? The Selwyn nodded along eagerly, she had seen it before! She'd never gotten too close, as a big always tended to herd her away but it seemed as though today was the day! Jenny was going to play in the water!

Soon enough the duo arrived at the Tarn's shore. She'd seen it from a distance but it looked so big and inviting, she wanted nothing more than to run into it. So that's what she did. With her tongue dangling from the corner of her mouth Jenny charged into the shallow water, splishing and splashing till she was up to her elbows. It was so cool and refreshing she couldn't help but beam in delight. Why had no one shown her this before? Jenny quickly concluded she liked water very much.

"Piiii!" She hollared as she churned the water with her front paws, moving them up and down like she was a robot. She was already soaked right through, so it was time to get Pi all soggy too. "Come heeeeere!"
