The gradual process of weaning begins and they can now follow adults for up to 1 mile from the den. With being allowed to accompany adults, learning continually advances with the aid of social interaction. Vocabulary lists proceed to grow and social or pack norms are picked up on.
Ellery wasn’t allowed to go anywhere without an adult, which was really bothersome at times. But, if Mother wanted it like that then there was nothing she could do about it. Perhaps later in life she would learn to question and the hows and the whys (respectfully of course, as she would always be a goody two-shoes), but for the moment she would obey without question. And boy was she bored. Mother had to go do Mother stuff and Papa had left to go down to the lake to do some Papa stuff. She was never alone for very long, but when she was she didn’t like it. Nope, not one bit. She sat outside the den, head resting on her paws as she stared around absently. When would someone come by and see her?
