As the duck glided along the gently rippling waters of the babbling brook in the heart of the Red Fern Forest, she noticed a wolf lurking in the shadows nearby. Fearing for her safety, the duck quickly gathered a handful of feathers from the soft spot on her belly and deposited them on the ground near the wolf, hoping to distract it.The duck quaked excitedly a few times before watching the wolf closely to see what it would do.
