Iridescent Lagoon It's our time to shine

This will be Kateri's birthing thread. Please welcome Andy and Ally to the world. @Archer

Over the past few days Kateri had grown anxious about what she knew would be coming soon enough. Though she hadn't voiced her worries she still had them. Tye ones she thought every new mother might have. Worries about the health of the children and if they would come into the world easily. Woukd she make it through the birth. The Slayer girl was well aware of the things that could go wrong and she didn't want that to happen to her or her pups.

They had made a nice little home by the lagoon which was where Kateri had dug out her den. She made it plenty big enough for her and Archer and whoever would come along. She also tried to make it as comfortable as possible.

After the work was done she found herself sleeping more over the past couple days. Being a new mother she didn't know what the signs were that she was getting close to giving birth so she was left wondering if that might be a sign. She tried staying close to the den knowing that was the smart thing to do.

However, all of her precautions weren't enough. The first pains of birth hit her during a trip to the lagoon for a drink of water. The soon to be mother knew she had to get back to her den but now that she was much bigger it was harder for her to move quickly. All she knew was that she didn't want to have her pups out in the open.

Pushing herself forward she made her waynto the den glad that it wasn't too far. She was breathing heavily by the time she reached the mouth of the den but she'd made it before the contractions became too bad. She was soon in the comforts and safety of the home that she'd created.

Pain like she hadn't felt before wracked her body but she let instinct take over. After all wolves had been doing this for a long time hefore her. She pushed when she felt like she needed to and soon she was giving birth to her first child. As she cleaned and dried the little one she found that she and Archer now had a son.

She was given a few moments to care for the pup before she felt more contractions. As she nudged the little boy against her the contractions grew more intense. Then it was time to push and soon Kateri found she also had a daughter which she nestled next to her brother.

Archer Valle

Archer had experienced birth before, in the ways that he could. He'd been around to watch and care for his ma when his sisters had been born. He knew the signs... to an extent. Perhaps it was easier for him, not experiencing them himself, but as Kateri's scent subtly shifted and she grew wider he knew they were growing closer to the time.

Time sped on with cruel efficiency. He felt they hadn't been out here very long at all, but the birth of their children was already upon them. Kateri rarely left the vicinity of the den, and Archer himself was reluctant to range too far in pursuit of food. Survival on their own was harder than he'd imagined. Maybe they should have gone in search of their neighboring family, or returned to the Cove. It was too late for should haves now, though, and Archer was doing his best to provide for them.

He was a little further down the lagoon's shore, fishing, when he saw the mother of his children suddenly turn and make for the den, waddling as fast as she could. Adrenaline shot through him and he quickly abandoned his fishing, collecting the small cache of herbs he'd gathered so far and running to be at Kateri's side. He let out a quiet woof to assure her he was there, that she was safe and not alone. He would enter when she told him he could and wait patiently until then.

Archer is very haggard and thin; it is obvious he is not doing well.
