Khalon was really beginning to lean into his desire to “become a scout.” He had no real interest in helping the pack but the older he got the more bored he had become with the mundane. This particular role would give him the freedom to come and go much more freely without question, while always being welcomed back to the cushy life he had always been accustomed to. Or at least, that was his understanding of how things work.
Ever since he had met that stranger who told him there were wolves out there who were always roaming about as a group he couldn’t get it off his mind. That was what he truly wanted, was to be constantly seeing something new and having nobody to answer to. The only thing holding him back was the fact that all of that sounded like a lot more work than he was necessarily willing to put in. Khalon was in his core selfish and rather lazy, and truly nothing was ever likely to be good enough for him. He didn’t want to lead, that was a lot of responsibility, but he didn’t want to have to do what he was told all the time, he wanted to see the world, but he always wanted a full belly and a warm place to sleep.
Tonight he moved almost silently through the familiar Grove, its strange energy filling his veins as he walked. He had nowhere in particular in mind, he just wanted to keep moving.
