Her paws had carried her higher upon the terrain, the rocky outlook of the mountain giving her a different view of her home – a version of Sacred Grove that she had never seen before. Of course, her travel was not completely random that day. The gripping desire to escape Swift River for a day or two had lead her here, and she could only decipher her emotions as that of regret when Ice had raised himself to pack leadership. It was not that she doubted the male.. no, it was that he now settled at the side of her mother, and while the pale tawny girl was no fool in to thinking she was not naive, she did know with the upcoming breeding season this would likely only lead to one thing.
Of course, given that she could not sort out her feelings for the frosted male, she refused to dwell on such matters, and instead escaped her pack lands to explore. She moved slowly, unused to such frightening terrain, and when she came upon a pass that was seemingly hidden spare for her own explorer greens, she ducked down a rather devious side and came upon a sight that far more impressive to behold than any other she had seen before.
Winter had taken its toll, of course – the browns, greys and whites that cloaked the earth was perhaps less mesmerizing than how the lake would appear in the spring and summer months, yet it was the first body of water KIsla had seen that was so large. Feeling a sting at her paws that broke her vision, the girl glanced down, noting the dribble of blood that now smeared upon the rocks she stepped on. Realizing she must have cut her paw pads, the she-wolf settled back to her haunches, bending her muzzle down to lap her tongue at the small wounds.
