Lalani Callahan
Through the fear that had its fingers wrapped around her throat, Lalani noticed that Anna was moving. She didn't dare risk looking to see what was going on. She soon felt her companions body flush against hers. She fought the feelings that threatened to over whelm her but she wasn't able to squelch the rebellion. She was conforted by thhe touch. Even though they had only known each other for such a short time, Lani knew that Anna had her back. Some of the fear disappated but it did not disappear. The danger was very real and happened to have a firm hold on her face at the moment. She was rather glad she had blurted out the things she had, she might not have gotten the chance otherwise.

Anna's voice filtered into Lani's hearing but it took some concentration for her to fight past her fear and focus on what she was saying. She was close, she knew that. Lani could feel her friends jaw not too far from her heaving chest. She seemed to be pleading for Lani. Her heart swelled, butt she raged against the sensations. She didn't WANT to care for this wolf, but this female had wormed her way through Lani's tough defenses. She found that she DID care. She was touched by what Anna was saying about her but also slightly embarrassed. Anna was also endangering her own chances by tying her fate to Lani's. *Stupid mistake. Its never going to work.* But surprisingly the strong alpha stepped back, though reluctantly.

Lalani was absolutely stunned. What had just happened. Had Anna's words actually helped. By what Maksim was saying, it seemed they had. "Fine," he seemed to snarl it right to her face. You should know you are lucky to have your friend here to vouch for you, girl." The way he said it made it seem as if being a female was the worst thing that she could be. Then she realized, that it was, because she wasn't a girl anymore but now a full grown female. Though he insisted on calling her the childish title. She refused to look anywhere of importance, afraid that he would come after her again. Lani couldn't believe she was acting like such a coward but she continued to keep her body plastered to the ground. He continued and Lani's nerves reached a peak, completely unaware of what he was about to say. Then it hit her. She was in? She was in! Her joy was quickly squelched as Maksim pointed out the fact that she was going to be the lowest of the low. Below, even that of the pups. It seemed she had just become yet another pack's whipping toy. Her new alpha's voice was harsh as he layed out the conditions. She was to be at the bottom, she was to obay and had to repect those above her. Oh, and she only had the one chance. If she screwed up then both of them were kicked to the curb.

The next thing she knew, he was snarling at them to get moving. She quickly pulled herself up, but not nearly as high as that of her alpha. She kept her tail low and ears flat, afraid that her would, if fact, change his mind. He legs shook horribly but she clenched her muscles and managed to lesson it to a more managable tremor. She stayed close to Anna's side, and pulled away from Maksim. She had only known one other alpha and it hadn't been pleasent. She didn't want to get to far from her companion, because she wasn't sure whether she could trust Maksim as far as she could throw him. It seemed they shared the same sentiment. There was a lighter side to the harsh words he offered her. She could make up for her mistakes. She could prove herself. *Why should I prove myself to anybody?* She mentally flicked the thought away. She was only alowed one chance and she wasn't about to blow it. Though Lani's pessimism told her that it was only a matter of time before she messed up again. And this time it wasn't only her life on the line. Anna was counting on her too. *Why did you have to do that you sweet, stupid woman. Ill only let you down.* Lani didn't deserve a friend like her. She made a mental decision. When things started to go down hill, Lani would high tail it out of there before she got them kicked out. She wasn't not going to let Anna sacrifice her home because of her. No matter how much she would miss her. *One step at a time stupid. First you have remember how to walk.* As she turned to follow her alpha to her new home, she tooj comfort in the brush of her companions fur, she said, "Of course, Sir."
