Bastet Akhenaten
Post Prompt: Feel it in your bones
--Bastet becomes desperate over food and attempts to fight over it.

Her stomach wouldn't stop rumbling, not even enough for her to contemplate her next move, and she quickly grew agitated over her current circumstances. Many days had come and gone since she'd eaten a worthwhile meal and the dark woman began to wonder if she would ever get to her full health; it was becoming tiresome having to admit her faults. She was weak, and because of this, she was useless. She often wondered what Maksim had seen in her to accept her into his pack, it was hard for her to realize her potential, then she would remember the old Ubasti and a smile crossed her lips. She had always been a strong wolf, had the attitude of a champion, but her injury had set her back and it would probably be well into Spring before she would be back to normal.

In the mean time she searched frantically for food, it was her only means of getting stronger and without it, her weight had fallen down to 95 pounds, a weight much smaller than she had ever been. She sighed, leaving the comfort of Cut Rock into Cedarwood Forest where prey was usually the most present. It was a game of luck, but she was desperate to find something, and wasn't again scavenging off of previously eaten food if she came across it, but they were becoming few and far between. There was no telling if her next would be in the spring the way things were going, but she remained optimistic, allowing her nose to come to the ground in search of prey scent. It was only once she came to a tree that she paused in her stride, giving her body the time to rest and easing the sudden feeling of nausea. She had become increasingly dizzy since her incident but she knew it was because of food--pawing at the ground beneath her she sought for the creature carrying the faint scent of rodent. Though small, it would make a most satisfactory meal.

Chantille Idasis

The arrival of the Spring could not come sooner. Being able to see the ground again would be a miracle. Watching the first emerald blades of grass sprout from the soil; this would be an opportunity for the Idasis woman to see where good herbs were growing. She longed to practice her healing skills, but the winter did not provide the chance to do so. Thick creamy coat kept her well insulated as she loped into the forest, hoping to find some sort of food. Her luck was minimal thus far. She had not seen prey for a few days now. Her diet remained minimal- rodents were on the menu for the most part. It had felt like an eternity since the flesh of a mammal with hooves touched her tongue.

Lightly sighing, she comes to a slow. Chocolate brown eyes scan the trees and ears perk. There was no singing of birds. Chantille anxiously awaited their arrival as well, for she loved to listen to their songs and form her own lyrics to them. The woman lowers her head gently, sniffing at the snow as she does so. A slight odor of wolf caught her interest, as did her craving for social interaction. With a small wag of her stiffened tail, she continues to walk.

After many minutes of walking, the wolf halts in her tracks. Claws cling into the ice, and she stand still as can be. The form of a wolf was yards away, and it seemed to be quite active in doing something. Digging, perhaps? She could not tail. Cautiously, she takes a few steps forward before her jaws slowly part. "Hello?" Her voice is melodic and curious, and ever so gentle. She looks on with fascinated eyes, yet her muscles tense to prepare for flight if needed.

Bastet Akhenaten
The stench of rodent became stronger the more she dug at the earth; or was she simply too hungry to realize that the creature had passed through this spot a half hour earlier. Her desperation made her crazy with hunger as she opened her jaws to eat the snow beneath her feet as if it had a taste-- after flicking her tongue a few times she grew bored of the sport. She faced the reality of her current situation--there was no food to be had for miles out. Sighing from exhaustion, boredom, and desperation, she glanced toward the treeline in hopes of catching the fleeting sight of prey but what came instead was the approaching form of another canine, great.
She enjoyed company, on most days, but today she felt irritable and anxious for something other than another wolf, and if she had the strength to bring the female down as her own she'd attempt to strip her meat off her bones without the slightest remorse--but this was far from her personality, and thus she shifted on her paws while Chantile approached. She would be friendly, she would obtain information from this lone female, and she would, if need be, fight her if they happened to come across food to eat; she had everything planned out. Lifting slowly on her feet, as the nausea had finally subsided, she approached the alabaster female with caution before displaying friendly wags of her fluffy tail in an attempt to settle the other woman's nerves. For now, she was a friend. "Who are you?" she questioned the other with a cock of her dark head before giving the woman the time she needed to respond.

Chantille Idasis

Curiosity remained with the cream-colored woman as she took a few careful steps closer toward the wolf. The dark coated wolf raised her head and looked toward her before speaking. Who are you? Chantille's ears flicked back for a moment in surprise before she tilted her head as the one before her did. A polite smile crosses her muzzle, and her chocolate eyes sparkle in the waning winter sunlight. "Hello there!" Her smile remains tight on her face as she speaks again "I am Chantille Idasis. Who may you be, if you don't mind me asking?" The wolf before her seemed to be an interesting creature. Was she digging for food before? Chantille's stomach clenches at the thought. What if the poor dear was starving?

This is why she hated the winter. There were no herbs nor any plants that were alive that would stifle hunger for a bit. Almost releasing a sigh, Chant keeps the smile on her muzzle small before she respectfully dips her head to the female near her. Her fluffed tail sways gently as she awaits her words. Judging by her body language, the wolf didn't seem aggressive- at least at the moment. Chantille was certainly not in the mood for fighting. All that was on her mind was locating a new family to thrive with. She teeters forward lightly now, paws kneading the frozen ground as she does so. A slight breeze weaves itself through her fur, and she raises her head slightly. Her cold wet nose twitches at what she thought was prey. False alarm. A pang of dissatisfaction hits her, but it rolls off of her just as quickly as it had come.

Oooh, she's apart of a pack now...nice

Her stomach groaned loudly, dissatisfied with the inadequate amount of food she was consuming; or the lack of. Ignoring the call, as discovering food was nothing she had control over, she listened with purpose as Chantille spoke, the smile across her lips were concerning to the dark woman was she in pain? although she would not say anything. Her purpose was to gain information from this woman, and right now any tip on where to find food would suffice, "I am Bastet, fifth subordinate of Cut Rock Creek" she spoke, using her narrow muzzle to point in the direction of her home; judging from Chantille faint scent, she could probably use one herself, "do you have a home Chantille?" she wondered, her head cocking to the side in wait. It was a question more out of curiosity than concern, she knew many loners who survived just fine without the aid of a pack, but she knew even more who perished because of their stubbornness, it didn't bother her either way if the woman preferred roaming solo.

Silence built between them and Bastet found herself lost in her own thoughts, fantasies of food played in her head as she caught prey on the wind--it was probably her mind playing a dirty trick, but it felt so real. Sighing, for she grew tired of the constant nag of hunger, she focused her attention once more on her comrade and wondered for a moment what the flesh of wolf tasted like, and shook the thought for a second time from her mind; would she be so brave to test it out for herself?

Chantille Idasis
Yep :) I'm still going to rp as if she wasn't in one in this thread though.

Chantille's ears pick up the wolf's name. "Nice to meet you, Bastet." The creamy woman raises a brow now as she turns slightly away from the dark coated wolf before her. There was a slight feeling of unease that wavers in her stomach. Her eyes peek at the wolf from the corners of her eyes before she lowers her head and nudges at some snow "I do hope Spring is coming soon. I'd like to make a stockpile of herbs." She lifts her head quickly at Bastet's question "I do not have a home, unfortunately." Chant's face twitches before she shrugs her shoulders in a casual manner "I once lived in these lands. I resided in the mountains with a pack. They are no more, at least that I know of..."

Her voice drifts off as she turns her head to the East. Where was everyone? What were they doing? ...Were they all still alive? Chant swallows her saliva heavily before she looks back to Bastet. With the unease still in her stomach, she becomes over-talkative. "How long have you lived here, Bastet?" She couldn't exactly pinpoint what was making her feel uncomfortable. It was a gut feeling, though, and she carefully watched Bastet's every move after it had begun to make her feel anxious. The kind wolf lowers her head and carefully gnaws at a hard chunk of snow near her paw. It would be nice to actually drink from thawed water once again. The snow was so tiring.

OOh food, now things should get interesting!
Chantille was friendly enough, in fact she was quite respectful, although the dark woman's thoughts never went beyond her desire to pull from this woman as much information that she could about a herd location. She would make use of this meeting some way or another, and only hoped that Chantile could shed some light on the dreary life that had came over the Lore wolves since Winter hit. As the white woman spoke Bastet could not help her attention drift over the horizon, her attention shifting in and out of the meeting as she caught her thoughts move more than once over the possibility of food--damn, this was becoming a nasty habit.

Shaking her head, knowing full well that she was stronger than her urges, she caught the last words of her company as clear as glass and contemplated her answer before providing any information to this woman; she was a stranger, one without a home, would she recognize if Bastet was truthful? "I have lost count," she spoke, keeping her morals and deciding not to manipulate the truth, there was no merit in it anyway, what good could Chantille do with news of her time on these lands.

With time passing between both women, she found herself thinking once more of food but this time a smell accompanied it--weird. Excited for the possible opportunity of food, she cast her glance around her and caught sight of the beast that had frozen in the snow lady luck is one my side she thought, anxiousness overcoming her as she contemplated leaving the woman at her spot to help herself to the food. It would probably be best if she the woman the same courteousness and excused herself, "I smell something downwind, it has to be food. It just has to be..." it was the best attempt she could produce of excusing herself before she lifted upon all fours and galloped toward the kill, her tongue hanging. When she had made it she sniffed it, determining that it was still safe to eat, and dug into the kill as though it would be her last. Chantille had been forgotten in the aftermath and would probably be wise not to interrupt this feast, Bastet had become territorial and would not think twice of protecting this precious meal. She ate in complete silence, forgetting the female near her and when she finished she left the area, having found herself content with her find and bored of the woman near her.
