July 8th 2014, Dusk, Partly Cloudy - 72F/22C
It had been a little under a week since Aponi had returned from her impromptu trip to the mountains and for the first few days she had done nothing but rest. Recently though she couldn't help but notice that something wasn't right, something was missing from what had become her daily routine. It had been with devastation when she realized what it had been, K'arnae's scent was quickly growing stale and the silver yearling had not seen her mountain friend since before her trip. Mercy had been closer with the older woman than herself but Aponi had been quite fond of her, which was a rarity for the young fae; she didn't really like anyone except herself and Mercy.
Without saying a word to her mate she had gone off searching for the creamy she wolf, exploring all of the nooks and crannies of the surrounding territories, coming back day after day empty handed. True, the areas were big and there were a million places to hide but it was like K'arnae disappeared into thin air, there was no trace of her. Finally after on the fourth day of fruitless searching Aponi had returned back to Magnolia Glen at dusk as usual, but for the first time she was disheartened.
The yearling had been obsessive until now, getting up earlier than usual and staying out later, hardly pausing to eat and cutting down on her sleep. As dusk slipped down around the magnolia trees Aponi wove her way through, home earlier than normal. Never had she told Mercy what she had been searching for and the disappearance of their friend had gone unmentioned between them, she had only said she was out scouting. Now she knew; she had to tell Mercy that she had found no evidence of the older woman, that she didn't think she was ever coming back. For once as she approached their small den it wasn't with confidence and her shoulders drooped. Aponi's usually sharp toned voice called out with softness, "Mercy?" Vulnerability wasn't her strong suit, and she felt sick at this neediness, but she knew she needed him now.
