Makita was shocked as her own words escaped her dark black lips. She was alive. After the bear's dark claws slashed though her shoulder, slicing against her bone. After the Swift River female (who she really did despise) sunk her teeth into her flank. After Makita had prepared herself so unwillingly for her unexpected death... She was still sitting here, drenched in her own blood, taking in the foul smell of the thick red liquid that wafted in the air. Her sides were still rising and falling in labored pants. Golden eyes still blinked on her face. I.. am.. alive. |
OOC: Owwie.. short post is short. XD
Pleased the female had the appetite to eat and smile at her, Vlarindara nodded her head while a soft grin touched her muzzle. "There's...no need to thank me, Makita.." If only she hadn't left the two during their conversation.. she might have seen the bear.. even heard the bear and could have warned the pups.. This wouldn't have happened had she simply been more insistent! Settling her haunches to the snow in the front of the hole, Vlarindara steeled herself to wait... to repeat the process of hunting for the yearling.. of guarding her overnight. ... of caring for her..until she could move enough to be able to assist her towards her previous destination. "Did you have anywhere in mind, Makita? Any wolves who might be waiting for you, or any that might worry if you were gone so long? I could find and tell them for you, if you wish."
Makita grabbed the regurgitated meal in small bites. She could taste squirrel and a bit of something else, mice probably. The little tawny female really did not care at all what her meal was, but the simple fact that it was quenching her hunger. As she swallowed the meal, which she did not have to strain to pull of the bones, Vlarindara's voice rang once more in her ears, which swiveled to listen carefully. "Theres.. no need to thank me, Makita." In truth, Makita was surprised not to have heard 'little one' instead of her own name. But, the fact that her name did escape the dark lips of Vlar made her smile. |
