Yuka Thorben
@Narimé

He needed space. Away from his home, away from any place where he had ever laid eyes on Inali. Away from where she could stop haunting him and he could move on with his life. It had not taken him long to make the final decision and with a brief word to Ash that he was going to take a few days to himself, the Thorben had been off, his muscular build flexing easily with each step that he took. Yuka didn't even know where he was going and when he finally sat down to take time to himself, he realized just how much he had truly sheltered himself from the outside. This new area was completely foreign to him and he felt some kind of thrill go through him at the prospect of being able to see something new. After pissing on the same damn trees every day had finally taken its toll on his mind and now he found that fresh air was certainly doing him well.

Ever since he had snapped at his mother months ago during a pack hunt, he had been doing his absolute best to avoid her. Thus far, he had been completely successful. The only wolves that he had any contact with were Ash and Danica, whom he had not seen in quite some time. Occasionally he would keep an eye on Rory, the pup that Ash seemed to keep close to his heart. If she were such an important wolf to him, then it meant she deserved Yuka's protection. Ash had done his best to teach the Thorben everything he knew and counted himself lucky to have had Ash to turn to for his training. Lately, he had noticed that his mother and the male alpha had grown exceptionally close. While Yuka wanted to know what was going on between the pair, Yuka had no desire to keep his mother out and viewed it as unprofessional for him to ask his teacher about it. With these thoughts in mind, he continued to wander through the Sacred Grove, interested in the possible things it could offer him.

Narimé Lagina
Narime was hunting. The itch in her fur and insides had been quelled by Ash for a time; though Nari knew that as soon as she returned to Whisper Caverns she would be veering back towards the Hervok male once more. It was only a matter of time before she would long for male company again.

She had decided to head northward to search for prey. Steering clear of the Cedarwood forest, Nari found herself heading northeast. The elk herd that had been around their pack only a month ago had left traces of their trail even here. The trees were stripped of their bark and all of the stems and leaves were eaten all the way 10 feet up off the ground where the clove footed creatures could reach. Nari was trying to find a relatively fresh scent of the herd, but so far all she had found was stale traces of them on the trees.

She hoped that cut rock rivers wolves wouldn't attack out here if there were any hunting in the grove. As far as she knew only Cedarwood forest was off limits to Whisper Caverns wolves. A lot of southern eden's prey was scared off. Nari knew that pressure on the herds came from not only her own pack, but Willow Ridge, Cut Rock river, and the smaller groups as well as lone wolves that made the eden their home. So she had decided to hunt north where there were less wolf packs. Hopefully she wouldn't be fruitless in her search for prey.

Time passes as the she wolf roams northward. Something quickly catches her attention making the woman veer off course. The scent of her son Yuka, a son whom she had kept away from for his own benefit, was much farther from the pack than he normally was. This made her wonder what he was up to, but at the same time she wanted to leave him be. He had made it awfully clear that he didn't want her presence around him spare for the occasional sharing of a kill site.

It had been a long time since she had talked to him though, and Nari knew now that her children were men now. Her talk with Titan when he had come to visit had assured her of that. Even so, Yuka's work as a guardian did not go unnoticed by her. She knew that he too was far from being her little gray hued cub anymore. They were able to fully take care of themselves now. Nari was just glad that Yuka was staying with the pack unlike his wayward brother. She did hope that Titan would find his own home wherever it was.

Carefully, Nari made her way towards Yuka's scent. She wondered how he was feeling about the pack. Though Nari guessed that with Ash as his mentor, Yuka would be loyal to the core. Even if the pack went down in flames.

She "woofed" softly to give her location away. She didn't want to sneak up on the bulk that was her son Yuka. He might be just as deadly as Ash was by now. Besides, Nari wanted to talk to him peacefully, or at least to enjoy his company if he didn't want to talk. She padded to his right about five paces away and then sat down to look into the trees peacefully. Just being close to him helped calm her worries about Yuka. He always did like to watch and listen to his surroundings rather than play rough and tumble with his siblings.

"Speech"

Yuka Thorben

Yuka had never been one for small talk, those who had actually had a conversation with him, quickly realized that being honest was probably one of his downfalls. The man was insensitive to others and didn't bother checking to see if his words affected them. In a sense, he didn't care and he knew with that kind of attitude, he would never have to worry about getting hurt again or being tempted to murder anyone else. As he sat there, while still being alert of his surroundings, the boy listened to the way the trees brushed against one another and the sound of rushing water in the distance. His teal amber eyes watched birds fly overhead and squirrels jump from tree to tree in a desperate dance of chase. When he looked upon these scenes, sometimes he wished that his life could be just as peaceful of theirs, to glide across the sky and be free or play a game without a care in the world. Never had he played with his brother and sister. Now the opportunity to ever do so was lost. His sister was dead, his brother moved on, and he was busied with his training and lessons with Ash, who was, in a sense, one of the only beings he trusted. The Hervok certainly did have a temper, but he had good reasoning towards it. No one could be as angry as that man without some baggage with him.

His muscles tensed as his thoughts were interrupted by paw steps. They were familiar ones and he felt like vision turn red at the thought of his mother following him. He, however, stayed where he was, his eyes focused on the ground as she grew nearer. He took a few deep breaths, his mind clearing away from such dangerous thoughts. He had only informed Ash of his leave and had left immediately, there would have been no way of his mother knowing that he had left. She must of had her own agenda and then happened upon his scent. Narimé was a Huntress, after all, her nose was strong. As soon as his mother announced her presence, the Thorben boy turned towards her, his head tilted awkwardly to shield the right side of his face from her. He cleared her throat quickly, his deep voice resonating in the silence. "Hello," he greeted her formally, his cold eyes pinned on her, "Am I to expect siblings this year?" There, what he wanted to know. It was out there and he couldn't take it back. Silently, he waited for an answer, his left ear twitched toward to hear, uncertainly swelling in the pit of him stomach.

Narimé Lagina
Narime was normally rather talkative. Though as she began to detest the world and the untrustworthy wolves within it she found herself becoming mroe and more quiet. It was only with pack business colleagues, friends, and family that she let her mouth ramble on about things. However, Nari always had to remind herself not to overdo it when confronting Yuka. She didn't want to be hated by him, and even if she couldn't get him to like her anymore she would at least stay as a neutral figure in his life. Perhaps one day he would accept the fact that she had tried to do her best with him and the pack.

That's why when Yuka hid his face she had to force herself not to rant to him about how he hid his scars. Instead she thought about how she would comment on his face before speaking. She wanted Yuka to be proud and confident about himself and his strength; not self conscious about his old battle scars.

"You should proudly show those off to the world with a raised chin. For they show that when the cruel world pushed at you, you pushed back harder.."

She commented lightly while raising her own chin as a royal should do.

For years now she had claimed these cavern riddled lands, and simply by stubbornly hanging on had she created a castle for her remaining family members. They had earned the right to live here through all the pain and hardships life had thrown at them. She had earned her crown which in turn meant that Yuka, being her eldest son within the whisper wolves domain, was heir to the pack. She was sure that if he could only get over his shortcomings that he would make a powerful and trulygood king one day. He need only take the position for himself when Ash was ready to step down. Or take it if the Hervok disappeared, which Nari still had worries about in the back of her mind. Or even worse, if Ash was killed by enemies. She knew that she couldn't keep leading after the older Hervok male was gone. There would be no other wolf to fill the void in her heart spare for her children.

At Yuka's question Nari simply flicked her ear while giving him an inquisitive look. Her blue eyes sparkled as she chuckled amusingly.

"And who told you that I am with child? "

She asks while looking down at her belly. She was a bit bigger, but the most greatful thing of all was that she wasn't sick. Narime had almost died before giving birth to Malia, Titan, and Yuka because of sickness. This time she had luck keeping her healthy.

"...but yes. I will be having children soon. Ash's children, and your half siblings. "

She licked at her belly once while letting out a contented growl. She wondered how Yuka would act around the kids. Having not taken care of any while living his second year, Yuka might be awkward around them. Or at least Nari imagined that being so. Then again he was somewhat around to see Rory. He might have learned a bit about taking care of pups with her being around. She thought quietly while looking out over to a tree. A few squirrels were jumping around the branches and making quite the ruckus.

Yuka Thorben

His mother’s opening comment made him scowl, his eyes narrowing in on her as she came forward, tilting her own chin up, as if to mock him. The growing man did not bother heeding her words, keeping his head tilted at the same angle that it had been since she had arrived. His mother should not have to look at the monstrosity that was his face. He had looked at himself and had clarified that it was simply nauseating to look upon. His countenance was not something anyone would call attractive or would want to readily look at, and so, he kept his face turned away. However, he would not leave his mother alone, especially when they were further away from pack lands than normal. It was his duty to protect her and anyone else who had the privilege to call their group family.

When she chuckled, his ears flickered nervously towards her, his body slightly tense with this friendly act. It seemed that he had not been wrong when he had suspected children and he was not sure how he felt about the prospect of children. Of course, they were his siblings and his responsibility. Ash had been on his case quite often when he was not there to look after Rory and the Guardian in-training could see why. The child had become lost again and it had left the alpha in a state of madness for a brief time. Yuka remembered the nights when he would be patrolling and Ash would be pacing around the borders, as if waiting for the girl to return home. And then one day, he had stopped, as if he had given up hope of his daughter ever returning to him, and it made him wonder what could make a man give up hope on his children returning. But then the Thorben would remember how his own father had never even returned to him, a bitter reminder that they had not been wanted and had left his mother behind to feed three children on her own. Already, she had lost one and the other was no longer part of the pack.

Luckily, Ash had come around and risen the pack’s standards, in Yuka’s opinion. It even seemed that the Guardian had given his mother a certain happiness that even her own children could not bring her. Maybe that was what love did for a wolf, Yuka was sure he would never be able to bear witness to his own feeling, if he ever had them, of love. Perhaps he was much like his legendary Uncle Guiness in that fashion. Titan had spoken fondly of the man a few times, and while the russet-faced boy never quite recalled meeting him, he could not have been all that bad. He sounded like an honorable fellow and Yuka would never fault a man for that. Realizing that he had been quiet for far too long, showing his lack of conversation skills, Yuka spoke, "I see… Does he…make you happy?" Of course, her answer would not have an affect one his training. There was no doubt that Ash was skilled and knew of more than one way to kill someone. But that held no concern to Yuka, he had also, unfortunately, murdered someone…someone who he had deeply cared for. Ash’s warnings were heeded. Only use such deadly techniques when utterly necessary. Ash’s voice reminded him, We try to avoid killing as much as possible…it is not just to kill someone unless it is an utter necessity. Still, the Thorben wanted to know how the Hervok knew so much about killing. Perhaps another time, Yuka would ask his mother if she knew anything.
