Sabik Asurn
@Kjors :)

“I WANNA SEE YOUR ANIMAL SIDE, LET IT ALL OUT”

This land was a land of rivers: they snaked through the trees, their reach unending and their supply limitless. Sabik had little hope for mapping them all in his mind's eye, at least not so soon after arriving in these new lands; perhaps one day... Until then, the rivers and their tributaries — hearty creeks and gentle brooks — were Sabik's guide, giving him some sense of purpose while he tried to make sense of a world which was very strange, even to his world-worn paws. So many years he had spent in the rolling hills and sparse groves that the Asurn family claimed that the varied nature of this new land was jarring at first.

But it was not a challenge that Sabik would be unable to overcome. He had left Nightshade to her own devices, content to roam on his own as he often did before they set out together in search of something more. This land was overwhelmingly green with towering trees and verdant shrubs. The mountains to the west and east were best avoided for the time being, although there was certainly potential to build a strong, successful empire in such terrain... As he roamed further north, the land was rather similar to the forest he and Toxin had taken to calling home. He was nearly prepared to turn around, the sun beginning to fall ever closer to the horizon, when the trees in the water's path thinned, revealing an enormous lake the likes of which Sabik had never encountered before.

Burnt orange eyes narrowed to assess the sight before him, ears twitching restlessly to ensure he was not caught off guard. The lake stretched far in front of him to both his left and his right, the water's dark blue hue promising danger for the weak and incapable. Wary of this, the bulky wolf stepped forward slowly, dipping his paws into the cool water and studying the peculiar creatures that darted around his paws. Fish... He'd seen them before, eaten them on occasion — but never in such a quantity and never of this size. Brows knit together, trying to make sense of this anomaly as he edged ever deeper, the water tickling his pale underbelly: just what sort of strange world had he found?

Under Karina's supervision, his hid limb was actually beginning to heal. Actually, in that he'd written it off as something that might take a miracle…or a great deal of patience on his behalf, which was just as unlikely as a phenomenon. All the same, her tender love and care had soothed some of the fiery burn in his hock. Her insistence that he treat the limb gingerly hadn't been for not, either – now, he could walk without a limp. In fact, he could even peruse the territory at a gentle trot without causing his leg any great irritation. Perhaps a long run or large inclines would irritate the strained tendon, but he was otherwise feeling well – and sought a brief excursion outside of the Kingsfall.

It would not be long, he promised the air silently. In fact, he planned to return to the den he shared with @Karina before nightfall – he did not wish to cause her grief again with another uncalled for disappearance. Yes, this jaunt would be a short one, to the lake and back. He would try his paw at fishing again, perhaps return with a trout or two to place in the pack's cache. While the rill near his home had a few fish, they were not of the same size – they might fill his belly, but they were not nearly impressive enough to leave for the rest of the wolves that called the sequoia forest home.

As he approached Turtleback Lake, he realized there was another wolf wading into the water. Snorting softly, he wondered if he should turn about – were the fish stirred up, and his project would be ten times more difficult than it was naturally. However, a moment of watching the older wolf indicated no sudden movements, and Kjors decided to wade in as well, several lengths from the other animal. Soon, the fish would begin to flock to him, as well.

Tipping his head, he rumbled softly. "'lo there. Takin' 'vantage of th' sun t' fish, as well?"
