The four year old edged the western lining of Stonewatch Timbers. He had not made it to these forests yet, but he was enjoying the scents of the fresh crab-apple and poplar. The last few days he had been doing his best to reap the benefits of spring for @Raela, dropping off nests of young rabbits and once a young fawn. He wondered if it was difficult for her to eat another family’s offspring when she had just given birth to one of her own. He liked to think that her newfound protective mothering instincts would simply be grateful for the provisions – though he had done his best not to stick around to find out. Nature was full of life now, and he felt no guilt trimming the branches for the three floofs. It was a strange feeling, the new pups gave Merys. He had not been directly involved with protection of the pups before venturing into Relic Lore, tending more towards the bigger picture when he hunted for his last pack. But he was drawn to them; not physically (though they were cute), but protectively. Perhaps it was the intimate nature of this pack, or perhaps the way he felt towards Raela that he needed to make sure they were being well taken care of – but, regardless of what it was, no one was complaining.

He had decided to take today off, the caches had been relatively full and the weather seemingly standing fast – and he needed a break. He had stepped off before first light, never a cunctator for alone time, and had been greeted with a calm sunrise at his back. Though, as the morning matured more clouds made their way into the sky. When the forest had reached up from the horizon, Merys had tilted his head to the left – the same direction all of the trees seemed to be leaning. How strange.. They seemed weathered by the northern winds, though they stood in unity, tightly packed together. The large male trotted alongside the opening, a happy spring in his step, not yet interested in leaving the sunshine for the shade of the forest.
