She saw the jagged leaves on their slender stalks before she spotted the warren. It was the casual darting of a head, large ears waving about comically that gave them away to the sharp silver eyed wolf settled just a few metres away. She knew they wouldn't be far. A satisfied smirk graced her dark-lined lips. It was almost too good to be true, finding them so close to her own front door.
Perfect.
Most with her knowledge would steer clear of this particular warren. Nightshade was not to be toyed with and while those of the leporidae persuasion might be able to render the toxin harmless to themselves - those that chose to make a snack of them would not be so fortunate. She crouched then, inching forward with jaws parted in anticipation. No tail to hinder her with low lying underbrush - one less thing to give her away, the dark wolf rocked back and forwards. Once, then twice - and she sprung, a practiced whip of her head to finish the helpless thing off without so much as piercing its pelt. With a satisfying crunch the creatures spine was snapped and its body fell limp in her jaws. Making note of her bearings she knew she would soon be back, until this nest was all but decimated if that was what it took.
If that was what it took.
