Aideen Smoke-Athesila

Ash carried himself with a steadiness much like his sisters, but Aideen wasn't fooled, clearly the subject of his lost daughter was a sore spot for the russet man; And how couldn't it be? Still his resolve seemed unshaken, and the petite fae nodded in turn, mouth tightened into a similarly resolute expression; "We all will." The Hervok's might consider their search for Nineva their own, personal, cause, but in the Woodland second's mind it was a matter for the whole pack, and they would all continue for as long as it was needed. Then Ash suddenly changed the subject, probably more than tired of speaking of himself and his own demons. The question took Aideen by surprise though, and she widened her eyes, a small smile returning to her dark lips. It was such a strange question, not because it was odd that Nina's brother wanted to know, but because, to the vixen shewolf, it felt like forever. Her childhood in the north was a distant dream, Secret Woodlands was her home and it had been so for… How long? She had to think hard, wrinkling her brows as she thought back. It was not a happy memory, her arriving at the borders with a heavily injured Coal, seeking shelter for a threatening winter. Her smile faltered; Coal… But that hadn't been the question, it didn't matter, he didn't matter!

Taking a deep breath, Aideen regained her composure, looking to meet the opposer's green eyes as she smiled again. "It feels like an eternity," She admitted, flicking a rusty ear; "But this will be my third spring under Nina's rule." That was with one winter wandering around helplessly in the Snowmarch, but that seemed insignificant. Barely had she regained her serenity though, before Korrin knocked her off balance again, the word mate for some reason shaking her. Copper eyes shifted to the almost yearling, smile turning somewhat sheepish. For some reason the question made her feel embarrassed, heat rushing to her face as she fumbled; "Uhm…" It should be a simple query, really the answer should roll right off her tongue, but it didn't; How long..? It occurred to her right then that she didn't know, not exactly anyway. Her ears twitched, nose wrinkling, the shame dwindling as she shook her head lightly. So she didn't know exactly, if she really needed to she would ask him. To Korrin she answered with an easy smile: "Miccah's been here longer than me, though not much." That should be accurate enough for the time being. Her tail waved casually, gaze shifting back and forth as she looked to see if any of them has more questions; For her part there weren't any.

Ash Hervok
Sobbing from how late this is.

Had he not been so immersed in this interrogation of sorts, he would have beamed with pride at his son. Of course, usually he would have gone to the source for that kind of question but his mate was second best and they could have killed two birds with one stone. Aideen seemed to be concentrating on what she wanted to say to him and for the first time since he came into contact with the other woman, he saw her happiness falter. He did not pry into this, for it was her own business, but it did not sedate his curiosity. When she finally spoke, it was an answer that quite pleased him. Over the years, he had become accustomed to hearing of all of the losses that Nina faced and it was about time that she had someone loyal to her. Based on her timeline, it sounded as if the russet woman had been with his sister a little bit after the founding. A lengthy amount of time to lead under a leader. Ash was glad that Aideen's loyalties had not wavered and he hoped that Nina had always found a friend within this woman.

Her mate, however, had been leading next to Nina and, as Ash understood it, had led next to her before. It was why, when she claimed that he had been within the pack before he joined, he was surprised. Tongue pressed against the front of his teeth to keep in the snort of surprise. The first time Miccah had led beside Nina, Narime had told him, it had not gone well. All seemed fine now but Ash had assumed that Miccah had been a newer member. If what Aideen said were true then the man was even closer to being a founding member, or had joined right after the creation of Secret Woodlands. A small smile pulled across the edges of Ash's mouth. His voice, however, did not match his facial expression, "That's quite a long time. I'm glad Nina has such loyal members to stand beside her." Especially now that she's getting older.

I think I've finally seen the light..in you.
