@Tadhg only <3 Set 7/31, mid afternoon, sunny. Somewhere about halfway between HR and WRF.

Ris had no idea what had driven her to leave the borders of Hearthwood River this time. The child had just been overwhelmed by not only her own emotions, but the emotions of everyone she encountered. The whole of the pack was mourning the loss of her mother, and though she had died six days ago, it was still a fresh wound. She just... needed some time away from the place with all of the emotions and pain and loss.

She had been on her own for about two days now, and she'd hardly rested since her departure from the territory. It felt almost like the black cloud that had settled itself over Hearthwood's territory had drifted after her, and even though it was warm and sunny and nice out, she felt so glum and gloomy. Pretty much the exact opposite of the weather, and it almost felt like it was mocking her. Why was the entire earth not mourning Kisla's passing? How dare there be sunshine and beauty and warmth in the world?

If she had been a different wolf - an angrier one - she might have considered squishing one of the beautiful little buttercups underfoot. But she'd never been one for violence or rage. Heck, until last week, she'd only been one for joy and happiness, and she would've danced through the patches of the yellow flowers she was making her way through. For now, however, she was just tired. The pale child plopped down in one of the buttercup patches, looking down at the sunshine-colored flowers between her forepaws.

She happened to like the color yellow, funnily enough. It was the color of the sun, and reminded her of being happy, and of all things good in the world. But there wasn't any happiness now, and so the buttercups were pointless. The girl placed one paw gingerly over the petals of one, watching the reflection of the light make it look as though her paw pad had a shine of yellow on the surface. It was pretty, and she just let herself look at it for a moment, to forget about everything else except for how pretty the flowers were. She didn't think she could handle more sadness at the moment.
