// Private for @Abel - January 12th, mid morning.
Keeping things vague on the Kana front.

RE - Torrential rain has caused flooding in certain areas.

___

If he was being honest with himself, Pete felt better. Not infinitely so, but enough to clean out his den and make it look... presentable, at the very least. He had taken to sleeping in the far back corner to keep out the frigid cold temperatures lately, and things had gotten messy.

Or, cluttered, at the very least.

But now it was neat and tidy again, and... flooding.

Not too badly, of course, and he’d moved all the herbs far back and in upper shelves he’d dug out to keep them safe for that very reason. But now, he had water all in the entrance of his den and, since he was short, it brushed against his belly fur and chilled him to the core.

Maybe there was something they could do to block it out.

He slipped out of the den and shook out his fur when he got to higher ground, trembling slightly, and trotted over toward a place where he knew some branches had fallen in the recent storm. Was it a perfect solution? No. But would it help? Maybe, and that was the best he had for now.

”Shit,” he groaned, getting his shoulder beneath one of the larger branches and pushing, trying to roll it toward his den. It was a curse, being too stubborn to ask for help.

Abel Tainn

He was not a fan of this weather. He was a hefty creature already and the water attempted to drench his fur or settle on his body and it simply weighed him down more. The Tainn was then left to shake out his coat as often as possible. It was not a very hot look. All spikey like some sort of porcupine or hedgehog.

It seemed there would be something to distract him from this awful weather though. He was not entirely sure what the small man was doing but it by no means looked like an easy task. At least not for someone of that size. "Hey." He called out with a kind but brief sway of his tail following. "Do you need some help with that?" He almost sounded too eager to help. Mainly because he was. Anything would be better than standing in this freezing weather that was sure to make an icicle out of both of them if they didn't finish the task soon.

Apparently there were Edge wolves Pete did not know.

Which was not a shocking thing. Sure, Pete had seen the massive younger guy around, but he’d never actually engaged him in conversation. Never knew his name. Especially not when he looked like a hedgehog.

Not that Pete looked better, with his ink-black fur plastered to his slight frame.

But he was not about to turn down help.

”Please,” he said in return, short and to the point. He was not quite as ardent as the larger wolf - not nearly so - but he didn’t want to crush the guy. After all, the young wolf was trying to be nice, and Pete wasn’t as snappy as some wolves around the Edge. A very slight smile canted his maw to the side. ”I was trying to bring it down to the medicine den - it’s flooding, and I don’t want it to reach the herbs.” They were his primary focus at the moment. ”I was beginning to think I’d never get this there.”

Abel Tainn

With the first one spoken, Abel moved closer and aimed to lean his own shoulder into the heavy branch. Which involved him weirdly crouching so he was low enough to actually push the damn thing. "So are you a healer or simply helping the healer?" He asked with genuine curiosity. The Tainn couldn't say he necessarily approved of someone sending out another to do their heavy work. He was happy to help out though, especially if it meant protecting the supplies that might heal any injured packmates.

A soft oof escaped him as the bark of the branch brushed against his skin roughly. It stung without a doubt but he didn't worry too much past that. "Say, which way should I be rolling this thing exactly?" He asked with an almost humored smirk. Abel had been so excited to actually do something that it had slipped past his mind on the finer details of what he was doing. Medical den, sure. He just had no clue where the hell that was.

Helping the healer?

“I’m the healer,” Pietro deadpanned then, brow arching just slightly. But really, he shouldn’t be angry over something so trivial. So stupid. The poor guy really didn’t know, so Pete couldn’t fault him too badly. “Pietro Archer,” he introduced then, crouching down to assist the large wolf in maneuvering the branch down toward the den. It wasn’t far off.

Silver eyes flickered over to the giant. “It’s west, near the river,” he explained. “This will be good for you to know for the future, in case you get hurt,” he went on. And god forbid anything like that happen - truth be told, Pietro couldn’t stand seeing wolves in pain.

He’d like to prevent it, if at all possible.

The medical den wasn’t far away, and it was a lot easier to roll the branch with the younger wolf’s help, and Pete was happy to find that it was an excellent size and shape for what it was needed for. It stopped the water at a point, and since the flooding didn’t seem to be rising quickly - if at all - it wouldn’t be an issue anymore.

He turned to the other wolf with a small smile. “Thanks for your help,” he said. “Can I do anything to pay you back?”
