The Tainn had been avoiding the down since Kerberos left. After all, it had been where they spent most of their time together, discussing the state of the pack and how they should tackle different problems. It had been a place of peace and security for the young leader, and now it was just another place she had spent with someone that decided she wasn't good enough to stick around for. She swallowed around the lump that was forming in the back of her throat. She had found herself there before she really knew where she was going, but now that she was here, she supposed she should stop neglecting the place, or someone might stumble across them with no precursor scents (although it seemed that Draven had been passing by here often, which bought her some measure of peace).
The sun was dipping low in the sky, blue turning to orange and black the lower it sunk. Had she been paying attention to where she was placing her paws, instead of on the changing colour of the sky she wouldn't have tripped over the branch that lay in her path, she wouldn't have tripped and stumbled heavily into the hollow burned tree, and she wouldn't have startled the colony of hoary bats that were just beginning to stir and stretch in preparation of a night of hunting. As it was, pandemonium ensued, bats starled from the hollow that rested just above her head, wings beating overhead and small claws clinging at her fur as the members that were yet to register what exactly was going on decided to crawl out the entrance instead of engaging in the panicked flight of others.
Treyah's mind still hadn't caught up with all that was going on though, and all she managed was a short, startled, scream.
