Woya Macieo
i'll come around, and clean it up

Woya couldn't help but constantly consider what it was her niece and nephew would think if they new all the possibilities for their lives to change this Spring. Would they be excited, ambivalent, concerned, bitter? Rhaegara's apparent change in scent finally forced her paw. She sought out @Marrah and @Caelyn and was thankful to find them within proximity of the other. A warm chuff dropped from her muzzle, beckoning them to come see her.

They needed to talk, but she hoped it would be a relatively light conversation, her swaying tail and fond smile hopefully evident of that.

Not only was Rhaegara clearly with child, but Saga had announced that she would be leaving the pack in order to search outside of the Lore for Aweho in mere days. Her own feelings on the matter were strongly mixed, and being so made them decidedly the least important reflection in her own mind. What mattered foremost were how her niece and nephew were coping with the prospect of their mother's absence in the wake of the trauma of losing their father in a similar way, as well as that of newborn children to share the adults' attention with.

She came upon Marrah first by scent, and sent a low chuff out into the air to get her attention and draw her near. She then issued a few barks to get Caelyn's attention if he was nearby, which she dearly hoped he was. When it came to blood, it was just the three of them now. She hoped they could still trust her after all of this.

*Rewritten to reflect Saga's 3/18 departure.

Marrah Macieo-Tainn

I’m Done Putting Out The Fires You Start

This was not a good time for Marrah, she had a lot of emotions to process that her young heart did not know how to handle. Her brother had never come home, and now her mother was going out looking for him and who knew how long that would take. To top it all off, everyone in the pack was acting so strangely ever since the weather had started to warm up. The women were grumpy and the men were pacing and everyone smelled a little weird.

When Auntie Woya chuffed for the kids Marrah obeyed right away, although her expression was grim when she arrived. She still bumped her nose against her chin and tried to force a smile but it was obvious that she was not in a happy mood. The girl sat down obediently and started to chew on her cheek, anxious to find out what this was all about. It seemed like everytime they were being called for recently it was more bad news.

She didn’t know how much more bad news that she could handle. Frankly, she was probably only a sentence or two away from tears so she chose to stay silent.

Caelyn Macieo-Tainn

Caelyn didn't understand. First his father, then his brother and now his mother had left. Now knowing how long its been since his father or brother have returned home, he feared his mother would be the same. Lost with the wind, never to be seen from again. Caelyn didn't know how to process the emotions running rampant in his young body, so the boy was often silent instead as he didn't want to disturb anyone with his issues. They had better things to do, right?

Auntie Woya's call for him was heard, but the boy was reluctant to quickly answer it. Not that he ever not wanted to see her, but Caelyn was afraid of what might come out of her call. However, the dutiful boy eventually sulked his way to his aunt as his sky eyes took in the sight of his sister already present. His body sliding up to press himself against her dark form, one of the only comforts he could find to ease his thoughts. Looking up to his Aunt, he awaited her words with silence.

The children didn't look well. Marrah made attempts, but as the two settled against one another and stared expectantly with haunted eyes it was clear just how much all of the turmoil had worn on them. Regarding them, Woya felt the fault lines of her heart quiver and crack. Why couldn't she do more for them? Nearly a year old and all they knew was loss... it had to stop. She took a breath.

"Hey," she greeted softly, as though a firm voice might do damage.

"How're ya guys holdin' up?"

Marrah Macieo-Tainn

I’m Done Putting Out The Fires You Start

The child felt her brother press his side against hers and she leaned into it gratefully. Through all that she had lost at least she still had him, and Enera, and even Auntie Woya was still here with him. But, part of her could not help but wonder how long that would last for. How long before someone else decided that the Chasm was not the place for them and disappeared? By now Marrah had come to accept that everyone who left never came back. That was just how it was.

Blinking in surprise at the question, the Maceio-Tainn did not know what to say. She looked sideways at Caelyn, hoping that he would have an answer for their Aunt. How were they holding up? She blinked again and mumbled, ”Um…” Then she trailed off. She was still young, she had no idea how to even begin processing the emotions she felt, let alone put them into words. Certainly not with any level of eloquence.

Marrah began chewing on the inside of her cheek anxiously, not wanting to let Auntie Woya down. If she said she was not doing well, would that hurt her feelings? If she said she was doing well, then that would be a lie, and would be mean to their mom. She chose to say nothing instead, and kept chewing her cheek. She was starting to taste the first metallicy drops of blood.
