I’m Done Putting Out The Fires You Start

The sun had just barely set when the clouds moved in, bringing darkness earlier than normal. Marrah was still lacking direction in her life, and as the winter came closer to the end and spring was approaching the yearling was not sure what to do. She was tempted to seek out Enera, but couldn’t bring herself to go back across the mountain and see what had become of their home. But she wanted to see her sister-friend. The Maceio-Tainn kind of hoped if she hung around the same area long enough that the paler wolf would eventually find her here.

So she moved slowly, staying in each place for weeks at a time before abandoning it for a territory that was only a few hours further away. She wasn’t even trying to hide where she had been as a smarter loner might be, she was practically yelling where she was. Today she was exploring a new part of the lagoon she had not seen before, but close to where she had been spending the nights. The water was shallower here and Marrah was hoping there might be a wet spot or two that she could fish through, but so far no luck. She would keep looking.

Daegal Archer

Trips to the Lagoon seemed far less daunting, even if struggling through the snow was growing tiring. Still, Daegal wanted to find the perfect place to lead his family once the dry season struck. It didn't seem right that they should have to travel for water every day when they could just move to the lagoon, so close to home. Then they could move back to the Willows when the water came back. It was the perfect plan... if he could find the perfect place.

So far, he and @Iseldir hadn't had too much luck. There were pretty places, but none that felt right - at least not to Daegal. He tried to focus on that thought instead of how guilty he felt about his father's injury.

He hadn't yet met anyone out here, but little did he know as he approached the ice, that was about to change.

I’m Back Between Villages

Marrah almost thought that her eyes were deceiving her when they made out a pale form amongst the snow. She blinked hard, opening her mouth to call out, when she came back to her senses. The stranger smelled like a male, and was clearly in that age where they were almost the size of yearlings but still a child. That couldn’t be Enera, and her heart plunged down into her stomach.

This had to be a sign. She needed to find her sister-friend, come hell or high water. By spring they would be reunited, she was sure of it.

So she might as well get moving now she supposed. The only unfortunate thing was that in order to leave and get started she was going to have to walk by this child who she suddenly realized was all by himself. She wasn’t sure she should get involved in some kind of side quest when she had suddenly been struck by some inspiration but… well what was a little delay?

Marrah waited until she was close enough she was sure the kid could hear her but not close enough to be threatening. Then she called out, ”Should you be out here all alone?” She knew nothing about cubs, was he old enough to do that? Maybe it wasn’t such a big deal.

And Everything’s Still
