His son was the first to speak up, but not with any answers.
'And Izzy,' he declared, drawing his father's gaze. Hagar nodded. Of course if anyone had information on Iseldir as well, he wanted to know. Maybe that was where they had gone... maybe Avella had caught their child's scent. How far could that take her, though? When would they expect her back, how would they know if she needed her pack?
Yet, it was only Nineve who had anything to say. Hagar looked to each of them, thoughts spinning behind beryl eyes. Piecing together all that he had been told over the past week, while silence currently encompassed them. Clouse spoke up then, again with information he had already known. Clearly, this would not work for them. He couldn't help a frustrated sigh, and even a crinkling of his muzzle, showing off his long-teeth.
Hagar was a wolf who rarely felt anger, but it seeped into him now.
Why? Why did they have to constantly lose rather than gain? Why did it have to be some of the wolves he most cared about? Why weren't they more anxious to help him in this? He closed his eyes, heading shaking softly back and forth.
'What now then?'
He looked to the ground, and then to those gathered before him.
"We will be searching in parties going forward, three wolves or more. Do not leave each other's sight, be methodical. We need every bit of these lands searched for them. If by the end we don't find any bodies, we'll at least know they're alive."
It was grim, but the truth, and all he could think to do. After all... if they
did all choose to abandon them...
No. Avella would not do that.
