As they moved further along the ledge, safe ground fading behind them, Vasco let his eyes drift down again, pretending to watch his own footing while innocuously studying the ground in front of them. Just up ahead, the ledge grew even narrower, just barely wide enough for two wolves side by side; Perfect! The stupid girl spoke up again and this was the hardest he’d had to fight to keep the smile off his face. Truly this was a sign from fate itself, not only was this child of the Cove, she was the alphas’ daughter! An icy tingle ran down the full length of Vasco’s spine, making his tail twitch in silent glee. He lifted his head a little, glancing forwards for the perfect spot, and as it neared, he made his move. Putting sudden speed into his steps, the gaunt wolf sidled along the cliffside, slipping between it and the young woman, trying to force her towards the edge. He moved with urgency, but trying to mask his intentions, keeping his head lowered, leveled with her shoulder to more easily shove past.
