Fenru Donata
"She won't answer," his sibling's voice, clipped and firm, bit at his ears. He still couldn't make himself look at her in fear that Prosper Lyall's face would still be reflected in her own. She continued to let the family know that Rissa had been taken and that Indru had not been her abductor. As though he had just been defeated, Fenru's rump fell to the snow-covered ground, his ears swiveled back. His eyes closed as he heard Corinna try to quell Aiyana's grief and frustration. If Indru had been here, a part of him felt like this never would have happened in the first place...

He let the pressure build in his jaws, clenching his teeth together and grinding his molars against one another. Slowly, he reclined onto his stomach, resting his chin to the side of his left paw. Her trail, her kidnapper, would be hard to find, but he considered all the things he would do if given the chance to successfully track where his youngest sister had been whisked off to. His eyes fluttered closed with a sigh. Blood, he mentally told himself. Blood everywhere. Broken bones, missing eyes, torn noses... Rissa deserved to be avenged.

Ice's voice registered in his ears as he called Jessie's name. He was going to track them and he was going to take the Swiftpaw woman with him. His lids drew up and immediately his head lifted and turned to fully gauge the Guard's proposal by the solemn expression worn on his face. He caught the pair of silvery irises and beheld them as two simple words reignited the fire within him. "You, too." The boy Fenru had been a few months before would have questioned the idea, maybe even whined that it was probably too late if Aiyana had lost her trail. He gradually rose up on his feet again; this opportunity, he decided, would not be lost or passed up. Fenru Tainn could patrol and see to territory borders, hunt as apart of a team, and scout the land like it was nobody's business, but whether or not he could heed the call of a soldier, to be what a true Tainn really was by means of loyalty and zeal, the yearling was ready to find out.

His gaze went to Jessie then back to Ice as he finished bidding Marsh farewell. He drew a deep breath, bracing himself before he finally turned to his mother and sister. For a second he wondered if Corinna would release him from the lands she had raised him to memorize and safeguard, and afterward he braced himself for the resounding 'no' that would keep him bound to Swift River soil. The word that left her mouth almost caught him by surprise; it rhymed with the answer he was expecting, but the beginning syllable was too hard and heavy in the throat. "Go." Shedding the last remnants of his youthful days, the endearments that classified him as Corinna's youngest son and baby for so long, he strode forward and pressed the side of his face to his mother's neck. He inhaled the scent of her fur, the aroma of everything that was home, placing it to memory to refresh its impression in his mind. "I'll be back," he promised. "I will find her."

Kisla Baranski
Her paws gripped to the earth, twitching as her lissome figure stretched across the snow in a dream. Her lips would curl, battling the monsters that portrayed themselves so fiercely within her mind, and in turn, a growl would seep past her jaws with each thrash of her body. They held someone from her, these demons – Rissa. Rissa, who reminded Kisla so much of herself – naïve, and completely trusting to any who had come by. But Rissa had not learnt this lesson in life yet. Her jaws opened, clipping shut harshly in a feign bite of the snow, her limbs twitching once more in her slumber.

Rissa called to her, stirring her from the viced grip her dreams held on her. Rissa called her, needed her. Her mind turned foggy as she shifted now, her eyes fluttering open in confusion as darkness shrouded her very being. It was night. Kisla shifted now, pushing herself up, shivering as her muscles throbbed their protest after being so tense. It was then the cry echoed across Swift River, and the pale tawny girl realized it had not been Rissa that had called.

Aiyana beckoned to the pack. Aiyana had returned, after her and Rissa’s disappearance.

A sharp intake of her breath was all she released and her paws were steadily moving. She ran now, desperation clinging to her – knowing if any came across her they would scent the fear that trickled from her like the twisting darkness. Her sisters were home, and yet she could not allow the relief that wished to swarm her move in. Logic kept her stoical, her heart settled with pessimism.

Kisla crept to the clearing; she was one of the last to arrive. And yet her eyes focused in upon the youth that stood before them. Aiyana. Alone. ‘Not Indru,’ she heard the girl exhale. ‘Rissa gone.’

She could not crumble – the weak state of her limbs begged to give out, the realization that the monsters of the world had indeed gotten to her trusting sister willed her mind to simply go blank – to let the world black out to nothing. They assembled a party to go search for her, and about to protest that she go to, one stolen glance to her mother quickly hushed such words.

Quickly, and vigilantly, the Yearling swept forward. Her muzzle would find the tender warmth of her brother’s neck as she bid him a silent farewell, and her figure continued forward to sweep up beside Corinna and Aiyana, who needed her here with them. She spoke nothing, but her muzzle bent to smooth her lips upon the girl’s brow in a quiet kiss, before she would lift her muzzle and press her cheek to Corinna’s shoulder.

Hotei Tainn
Really need to post him here. Just so he's there ya know?

The dark wolf heard the howl. Marsh was calling. What for? Hotei had no clue.

Stepping forward willing himself to continue towards the pack, the disheartened Hotei padded towards the howl. It wasn't that the man didn't want to answer the call; it was just that Hotei had been in a foul depressed mood ever since he and the pack lost their most important family members. That was the whole reason Hotei had even come back in the first place. To be with the family that could be left there.

But now they were gone. He had so few family members left now. Hotei didn't know what to do with himself. He wished Torla were there to help lead him around and tell him what to do. She had a strong will and would have kept him from getting too depressed about everything that's been happening. However the dark wolfs sister had gone missing soon after they were joined by Indru. Maybe? Did she go with him too?

Hotei came in very late. His body already lowered by his mood, and the males tail drooped unwilling to take any more bad news.

When it rains, it pours.

Looking around at his pack mates hoping they had called for a hunt or something, Hotei cocked his head with a worried look. The mood here...Everyone was sad and depressed just as he was. What was going on why had Marsh called? The Black Tainns eyes glanced to those smaller yellow orbs so very much like his own. Why was Aiyana crying?

Hotei jerked his head around gazing at the pack. He counted heads. Everyone. Spare for one was here. Hotei flashed his yellow eyes back to his young black niece. ....Rissa...Where was Rissa?

With a sharp intake of breath the black wolfs breathing paused. He stood statue still as the realization of what happened dawned on him. Rissa wasn't lost. She was ...gone... Never coming back sort of gone... "Why is this happening to us?!?" Hotei was still a frozen statue. His eyes glued onto the mirror image of him when he was a pup. Aiyana...

Why?

OOC: Feel free to archive it over him if this was your last round. Sorry for such a long delay. All I can really say is sorry for that.

Ice Aesir
Gonna start wrapping this up. ^^ Easier to let Ice go before I post Aiy again.

you do not know who is your friend
or who is your enemy
until the ICE breaks.
His gut had churned for a moment, afraid of rejection, denial; that Corinna, Marsh, or even Fenru or Jessie, would tell him to stay. That it was pointless. Futile. Would he have accepted it? Would he have backed down?

Likely not. As it was, he didn't have to find out about that. Jessie's head bobbed in agreement, acknowledgment of his command and the choice to follow him to stars knew where Rissa's trail led. She was loyal, and yet it warmed his heart to truly know that she was with them in this. He had doubted the Swiftpaw sisters at first, as he doubted everyone, but they had shown that they were worth the meat Swift River ate. And Fenru... the shy, awkward boy with dreamy eyes had grown into a young man, the ferocity in his auburn gaze enough of an answer for him. The three of them would follow Rissa as far as they could.. but Ice could not make any promises. Perhaps Corinna knew that, as she held his eyes for a moment before he lowered his own out of respect. Perhaps she knew that it was a futile search, but that their minds would no rest if they never tried.

"Go."

He jerked forward, pressed his eyes close and his muzzle against hers, trying to convey what comfort he could; how much did it take of her, to remain behind, to linger here? How much did she sense, like he did, that this would likely give them nothing? Backing off a pace he heard the promise Fenru gave her, but he bit his tongue. Indru had been the same way — making promises he couldn't keep. Better not to promise at all, than break your word, but he didn't have the heart to scold the boy over it. When Kisla arrived, he paused mid-stride, hesitated; unsure. Would she accept his comfort.. or think only of the night when the keening winds sang a haunting song? Grinding his jaws together he told himself we are pack, and touched her shoulder in a silent gesture. Then he was gone, padding into the snowy night, follow a trail of pain.

Aiyana Tainn
I walk upon the river
With each passing heartbeat she knew that their Camelot here in the Grove was forever broken and ruined. It had been laid to waste with loss upon loss, and Corinna's loving, tender words could not shake her from her dark pit. Silently she closed her golden eyes, the fire in them dimmed, and gently leaned her forehead against her mother's strong jaw. More than anything she wanted to run into the darkness of the Grove, to all the places where she wished they could never find her, and curl up in the snow and sleep. She did not want to be awake, when pain rode so intimately upon her shoulder. She did not want to be awake and feel the hole which started to form in her heart, the black void that swallowed the world and everything light and good.

But duty bound her feet, even when Kisla's muzzle conquered with Corinna's for the space on her black head, nor when Ice declared that he, Jessie and Fenru would search for Rissa. Hope should've spiraled in her chest, blossomed in her veins like spring come early, but only bleak pessimism reared its head. You won't find her, she thought in her own darkness. Quieter: But damn I wish you would.

There was no point in lingering here, not when Ice set off. They were going, and this was the border, and.. and what? Aiyana swallowed again and drew a shaking breath. She did not want to remain here. She did not want to stand here, the center of their painful attention. They hurt and she hurt, but she did not want it. She did not want their pain as well. Giving her narrow shoulders a shrug she ran her nose along Corinna's chest before slipping out from underneath her, and into the darkness of the Grove.

She wanted to be alone with her sorrow — and with her failure.
