woohoo for awkward first-character posts (◎_◎;)

Hours had bled into days, and from there, she'd lost track of time since her mother's mountainous range had faded into the horizon at her back. Not having a real plan had made the passing of time not matter all that much to her, what with her primary goal just be to wander, as novel as it was. All she had to concern herself with was finding enough food and a halfway decent place to sleep every now and then. So far, all had worked out in her favor and she was good to go.

But today her enthusiasm had waned under the sun's heat. Her ears were splayed back and her pace not half as ambitious as a few days ago, even after she had found solace in the shade of the forest. Through the treetops she could see the vast skies which were only partly cloudy at best--which was being very generous--there was little chance of a refreshing rain shower popping up to drench her and everything else.

Eventually the dark nomad found the forest growing deeper and darker the more she traveled. She struggled to find a path, her paws not so used to a place so complicated (although give her a sloping rock face and she was at home) with its constant roots, leaves, sticks and branches. Every which way seemed just as dense as the next, but with time, she found her footing and could proceed at a better speed, although the trees and the underbrush seemed awfully touchy-feely to her. It was too easy to feel constricted.

On her way south, she managed to flush out a small scrawny rabbit and made quick work of the kill as well as the meal that followed. Satisfied, especially after seeing the outline of particularly impressive a mountain in the distance through a rare break in the trees, she proceeded onward into unknown turf at a decent clip, hopeful of what awaited her.
