Eva Hervok
Eva's eyes widened in alarm at Nina's response. She realized then that she definitely did not know the whole story. The girl recalled that Ash had been sent by her father to hurt Nina, but did not know that he had been brainwashed in doing so. The 2-year-old could not help but feel a wash of relief, even when she should not have. It was not the real Ash that hurt Nina, it was a different one that had been fed lies like a pup might have been fed milk by his mother. Ash had come to his senses and had broken the web that their father had put around him. She appreciated Ash so much more for knowing how strong he was in doing so.

The girl could not even imagine having a father like that, and she was now thankful that she had never found him on one of her expeditions. Parents were supposed to be honest, hard-working, and kind, and father seemed to fit none of those categories. Eva could understand white lies, like when a pup asks a question that was not ready to be answered yet... but to tell a son that his half-sister was some kind of creature on a wanted list that deserved to be hunted down and killed? Nina was a wonderful, friendly wolf that never deserved anything like that to happen to her. And yet it did.

An anger filled her, like a hand pressing and holding onto her heart. How dare her father do such horrific things to the siblings she loved! It was all his fault that they were separated, that she had to hide all of her life, that she had never had a dad! Eva closed her eyes, breathing deeply and steadying her tumultuous emotions. When they were opened, Nina was still there. And there was still more that Eva needed to know. "Where are mom's parents? Are dad's as bad as he is?" The girl attempted to keep her voice calm, though her body tensed as waves of anger washed over her. She knew that she could not assume that her father's parents were as awful as he was, the three children he had brought into this world were proof enough of that.

Nina Hervok

Even though she came off as innocent and sweet there was a monster inside of her. There was a monster in everyone, no matter how pure and good they were. She had a dark side and it had rarely come out since she had been in the lore, but every now and then she would snap and the vicious monster within her would come out, but Eva did not need to know this, nor did she ever have to experience such a thing. Lost in her own thoughts, she barely realized that she was being spoken to until she saw her sister’s mouth moving. Tuning back in on the conversation she was having, Nina shook her head in sadness, "Sorry, Eva, I have never really heard anything about our grandparents." The woman’s voice of reason was true. There was so much going on when she was younger. She had been raised by her mother for a short time and eventually she branched off to her teacher and the two of them had stayed together for some time before Nina had finally made her way into Relic Lore.

If her mother had ever said anything about her grandparents she certainly did not remember any of it and the thought made her slightly guilty. Family was everything to Nina and she would trade nothing in the world for her family. They were hers and she was theirs, it was simple common sense. She felt whole when she was with them and if they weren’t with her then there was always that empty feeling within herself that screamed for the social interaction and begged for the empty spot to be filled. Each moment that would pass would be an agonizing one, but she did not have to worry about that any longer. She had what she needed and she would be able to sustain herself for a very long time.

Sorry about taking so long!

Eva waited patiently, watching her sister's face. Though Nina was directly in front of her, it felt like she was very far away at the moment. Some glimmer of a troubled expression shined through and caused Eva to move her paws uncomfortably. The 2-year-old knew something must be going on in that head of her sister's, and from the aura she was giving off it was nothing good. The Hervok girl breathed out deeply, knowing that this conversation would have to come to a close. There were so many facts that she did not know, but those would have to come another day. Nina had a pack to lead and pups to take care of, a little sister's curiosity could not take up all of her time.

Nina's reply was a let down for Eva. There was always a hope that somewhere in the world would be remnants of their family, good and pure, and that they all could have parental figures in their lives again. Were their grandparents dead? Were they somewhere half across the earth? The Hervok sister might never know, but it was something she would have to live with along everything else.

The girl moved her body backwards, coming to a sitting position. "Thanks for answering my questions, Nina," Eva said, a light smile forming on her features. In Eva's eyes, one of the most important things you can give to a loved one is their time- and Nina had given her more than enough. The younger Hervok appreciated this to no end, and was thankful everyday that she had such caring siblings. "I wouldn't want to keep you any longer!" The Huntress remained seated, waiting for Nina to leave first. It was only polite!

Nina Hervok

Nina had enjoyed having her sister’s company, even if all that had gone on was a family interrogation. Eva had definitely needed most of the closure that Nina had just given and the alpha of Secret Woodlands accepted this easily. They had been talking for quite awhile though and both of the ladies had tasks to get back too. It seemed as though her younger sister, realizing this, decided to take action and close their little family get together. Smiling politely at the girl in front of her, Nina got up from her comfortable position on the ground, her tail flowing behind her in a calming manner. Speaking softly, she let her voice resonate, "Please, dear sister, I encourage you to visit your nephews and niece when you get the chance." Nodding her head in farewell the older sister butted her muzzle against the similarly colored sister before turning on her heel and starting back towards the pack den. Nina had many responsibilities to attend to, most of which could not wait for another day. If it were other circumstances than perhaps she would have liked to stay longer, but duty was calling. For now, Nina would check on her young to make sure all three of them were cared for.

Eva watched as Nina approached, touching her affectionately before moving off into the wilderness towards the pack den. She smiled and nodded, confirming that she would visit the den as soon as she could, when she was ready. The girl watched her sister's receding form, her brown coat that was so familiar to her own, as it disappeared into the surrounding bushes. Now left to her own devices, Eva receded into her mind to ponder all that she had learned. Much information had been received from the knowledgeable Nina, yet much more was still a mystery. A family tree was a complicated thing, and the roots of the Hervok line seemed so convoluted at times... as if they could never be untangled.

It was then that the young wolf realized something. A parental figure was not necessary when you already had one so close to you. Nina was a shining example- a mother, a leader, a sister and a friend. Many others did not have such a wolf in their life, and the yearling knew she was very lucky. Some higher being had led her to Secret Woodlands for one reason or another, and it was important that she would help Nina and the pack in any way she could. A joyous bounce in her step, Eva bounded off into the wilderness with a child-like laugh, preparing herself to become the Huntress that Nina wished her to be.
