Post prompt thread: Feel it in your bones!
Summary: Basically, Koda finds out that his relationship with Nina is over...

He yawned wide, shook the scattered amount of fallen snow from his ashen coat, and lifted to all fours with his nose kept low to the ground. He was in no hurry, had no particular destination in mind, but the older male needed a walk to get his mind from the stress of the pack; as if being hungry wasn't enough. He'd heard through the grapevine that Nina had changed her name back to her birth calling, which was innocent enough if the two hadn't pledged their love for each other many months back. Since the news broke he'd been avoiding her, afraid of the emotions that would spill out upon seeing her, and too tired to reason with her about the rift in their relationship that she had caused.

He had always been understanding, and was even apologetic about deserting her and his pups, but upon his arrival he would have rather her mention that their love had gone instead of hearing about it from someone else. And what worse, his mind began to develop conspiracies about who had stolen her heart in place of him, he could't help wondering if the male was bigger, stronger, faster, more handsome then him? Or maybe he was all of that plus the loyalty that he hadn't given her in return for her love. At this thought he snorted, puffing soft snow into the air before continuing on his destination to no where, he paused only when he had made it to the base of a tree.

Ironically, this tree had been the same one he'd approached upon joining, it was the tree that had sparked his memory and showed him the way back home--if he could even call it that anymore. He rubbed his shoulder against the bark of the tree, loose hair strands stuck to its tough exterior as he marked the memory tree as his own, before he stared intently at its graying bark with growing anger. Why did coming home feel so bad? Why did everything fall apart despite his continuous attempts to make it all better? Why did he even bother anymore--he pushed this ridiculous question from his head. His family was always his top priority, regardless of how he felt about his relationships.

After moments of questioning his actions he grew angry and bitter at how things had turned out. It wasn't suppose to have gone this way, but he knew that everything had a purpose and he was slowly beginning to accept his fate, no matter how hard it was. Suddenly, without warning, he felt his forelegs lift upon the bark and dull nails attempted to rip chunks of it from its shelter, in a flash off-white jaws opened to grip at loose ends with vengeance. He had to pass this frustration off to something, and there was no better way then the horrid memory of this tree. With each successful impact he grew angrier, as he questioned himself over and over again about why he'd even returned to the Woodlands.
