It hadn't taken Quick long to discover what happened. The scent of a baby - and not Naira's - was so startling upon Keep soil though it was no surprise at all to the Arctic female that it had been one of the new wolves who had dragged some other wolf's child back to their territory. Sometimes Quick didn't understand the way other wolves thought. Most of the time, actually, she couldn't relate. The world was so wild, and they were wild too. Who thought it would be any good to bring a lost cub to their doorstep? To invite a protective parent and their teeth-baring search party to a home they tried so hard to keep protected? Last Quick knew they had no allies - needed no allies - but they already had one pack pumped full of anti-Keep propaganda. Did they really need another?

Quick was hardly the candidate to be an ambassador and yet at Naira's behest she carried root of ginger, with some ergot clutched gently between her teeth from her own gathering. It was a very wise move... just rather unfortunate it had to be her, was all. It meant if they rejected their peace offer, Quick was the one to receive the teeth. It also meant if they accepted it, she might endure some gratitude, but the Keep subordinate simply didn't see the glass so full most days. It didn't help that she had never met a wolf from the very place she was headed - but the urgency with which she was ushered out with that ginger root didn't help her perception. Her mission was perhaps to patch things up between themselves and the wolves residing in the Willows, but all she wanted to do was deliver their gifts of condolence and get the hell out of there with her pelt in tact.

First, of course, she needed to make it there. All this loping and still no willow tree in scent or sight. With an agitated huff that nearly blew a little ergo from her jaw, she pressed onward.
