The swarthy gaurdian could be found where he spent most of his hours - the pack borders. He enjoyed the solitude and the peace it brought him, knowing the fact that he had been trusted enough to obtain the title. And by Nina, no less. He had worked hard since than, making sure to take his duty seriously. Just because he was fighting his own personal demons didn't mean that he would neglect his job. He took the protection of the pack seriously, even though he wasn't close to most of the members. His only true friend really, was Aideen. She was a constant fixture in Secret Woodlands, which was a good thing. The healer seemed to understand when he was in need of solitude or when he was in need of a friend. Miccah was one who preferred to keep to himself, after all, but the occasional smile and laugh Aideen provided him with, he saw it as more than enough.

The borders had been quiet recently, ever since he and Iopah had taken care of the cougar that moonlit night. He obviously much preferred the quiet of the borders, but the occasional loner always came about seeking for a pack to join and proceeding to wreck his peaceful silence. His muscular form flexed as he plowed through the snow, aiming to create a new route he could patrol, along with the others he had created. Doing this every other day or so had helped him learn more of how vast the Thickets really were, and ut left him in awe. One who didn't know the lands could get easily lost in the dense thickets. The black man had devoted his time to thinking of the pack lands like a large map, one with intricate trails crossing each other every which way, and there were always new ones to make and overlap. Miccah had reasoned that this would help him in case of one day he needed to get sonewhere in the pack lands as fast as possible. As he thought of his duties, his deep blue gaze swiveled and his ears were pricked in an attentive manner. He had sworn he had heard something...but what? It was possible he was getting a little paranoid spending so much time on the borders, but it was always better to be safe than sorry.

She was worried. She had been ever since her confrontation between her and Koda. What the spring would bring the pack terrified Nina. The mother knew that if Koda went against her wishes, the pack could very well go into shambles, and so she was forced to think about what she could do. The only option she had for the time being was Miccah, and as much as she despised working with him, the Hervok was hoping they could come to some mutual agreement. She needed a male lead if Secret Woodlands was going to thrive. She had made promises to many and she had no intentions of ever breaking those promises until after her death. It was why she had been watching him, for quite some time now. It was obvious that he was trying to do...something with the territory and she was in no way stopping him. She did, however, follow him, her body moving through the thickets much like a ghost.

After quite some time, it became obvious that she became a little bit too confident with herself, for her body brushed gently against one of the shrubs. She froze, her single eye locked on Miccah's form. As a Guardian he was trained to be alert at all times and it definitely seemed like he noticed. She remained still, waiting for him to look away. A pleased smile made its way onto her black lips. She still knew the whole territory better than anyone, as it should be, and as she waited several more moments before he continued on, words broke past her lips before he did, "Bane came to visit a few days ago." Her voice was firm and strong as she stepped from the shadows, her beautiful golden fur glimmering in the little sunlight that graced them. She continued, "He joined Black Thorn Downs." Her voice held a bit of uncertainly to it. By the way she had started, it was obvious that she was trying to be civil to him before they got down to business.

His brows furrowed as he scanned the dense thickets once more. He was sure he had heard something. He was even positive that he had caught a glimmer of a figure, but maybe he had been wrong. As he turned to continue on his border patrol, a voice stopped him. In surprise, he froze momentarily but soon regained his cool composure as he turned to face the Lady of the Thickets. It miffed him slightly to know that she had escaped his watch, and for who knew how long. He had been trained since he was a child to always keep a good watch and ear on his surroundings. But Nina above all knew these lands better than he, no matter how much time he devoted himself to the borders. She moved like a ghost, something he admired.

The burly male took in her words, taking in her tone. It was clear she was striving to be civil, for once upon a time her voice held none of the effort it did now. But why had she seeked him out? It was good to know that Bane had found himself a new home, though unfortunately it was with their enemies. Still, the boy had needed a drastic change of scenery. His ex lover never semed to seek out her child, and his only friend had gone and left the pack as well. His only friend and companion had been Nina, who had practically raised the boy in Ashanti's dissapearance. He had been too stuck in his own grief to notice the child, and by the time he had gotten his head back on straight it had been too late. Though, the past was the past. If he sat and thought of his regrets, he would sit still all day.

His gaze stayed on Nina. If she was being civil, he should as well. "Is he well?," he questioned the green eyed queen. There was genuine feeling in his deep, rumbling timbre as he too spoke strong and clear. Where once there had been something to prove in his mind, there was nothing to prove now. Miccah knew he was strong and confident and for some reason Nina had seeked him out for something. He had a feeling it was due because of the pack's state, not to mention what was going on with Koda and Iopah. They wouldn't dare have pups while it was against pack law, would they? Nina ruled over them all, it didn't matter that Koda was alpha as well. Everyone looked to Nina for the final say, something he had failed to learn when he himself had ruled.

Perhaps her paranoia is what finally had her seeking Miccah out. Koda was no longer the man she had once known and held no semblance to her as to what he was capable of. She had fallen in love with Koda....the one whose love was true...the man who followed the rules no matter what the circumstances and it had made Nina's heart grow. Just the fact that he could possibly even suggest breaking the rules dulled Nina's heart, the very same heart that Koda had once promised to cherish and love for the rest of his life. She couldn't put the fault entirely on him. The beautiful woman had been cold and ruthless since he had returned to her and that was entirely her doing. However, the rules that had been ingrained into her since birth had won off and it tarnished the part of her soul that still believed in love. It seemed when she reached out to give it, the thing only returned to bite her in the ass.

She shifted slightly as Miccah spoke to her, his gaze almost confused. She had probably asked herself the same question every moment. What were her intentions of speaking to me? Nina, however, had gained much confidence over the years, most of which she had gotten from Elettra and didn't miss a beat, "He is going well...but he is worried about the pack." Her last comment translated into he's worried about me, but Nina didn't dare say this out loud and stared at Miccah through narrowed eyes, as if daring him to question her words. She waited then for his response, before she would jump into business.
